Ate here for a (very) late lunch. I had a flat white (short - although never knew there was a "short" and "long" flat white) along with the Smoked Salmon, Scrambled egg and Sour dough toast. Eggs were good, toast (apparently they bake the sour dough themselves) was great and the salmon (smoked in-house) was fantastic. For me, a shame there wasn't more salmon (maybe I am just greedy) but a really good portion of scrambled egg. Definitely would come again, I sat next to the counter and probably not the best spot. There were sofas towards the back (seemed a bit dark) more seating upstairs where I didbt venture. Great service and seemed to be a really good selection of coffees, teas and cakes.

So overall really good place, there was a few things which dont quite make it a 5 star tho, i had a iced coffee with an english breakfast, i requested no tomatos and mushrooms which was done correctly, beans were high quality, sausage was firm and proper not too fatty or had any gristle, however i chose poached eggs which came hard so that was disappointing, also the bacon for me should of been a lot crisper but was still tasty, sourdough was lovely, hash brown was definitely the star of the breakfast, service was above average but not absolutely amazing, servers were very accommodating and friendly though, overall its a 4/5 for me.

We had our first visit to Café on the Square yesterday as saw that they were dog friendly. Upon walking in we asked for a table and were immediately accommodated, we chose to sit outside in the spring sunshine which was lovely. The service was impeccable and the food was beautiful, we had club sandwiches and homemade cake to follow with tea and coffee. The tea was also loose leaf and came in a lovely filter pot. Will definitely be visiting again to work our way through the rest of the menu!

We arrived for a coffee and some breakfast, lovely setting on the square only to be completely ignored. When we arrived we didn't know if we ordered at the counter or the table so I went in to ask I was advised it was at the table, also explained the table needed clearing. Sat back down only for them to set up a new table for a group of 4,. I then went back in for a menu, sat back down, my girlfriend also asked for the drinks menu and explained we where ready, the table still needed clearing. They then proceeded to serve the the table of 4 completely ignoring us, they then served other drinks to other diners! Again ignored. Utterly terrible service, no excuses just plain bad. Will not...

This is a 'must visit' cafe. The staff are very friendly & the home-made food is Excellent. The first time that we visited we had caught the bus from Wheelock to Sandbach (we live on a narrowboat & were taking a rest day). We saw the cafe opposite the Anglo-Saxon crosses in the square & it looked very inviting in the rain. We had the home-made quiche which was wonderful, so good in fact that a few days later I was instructed by my wife to get a bus back there (from Middlewich this time) to buy some more quiche to take-away (it was just as good as the 1st time ! ). We are in Scotland at the moment & plan to take a diversion to Sandbach on the way back to our boat for some...
