My wife and I visited on a quiet Sunday afternoon with our three children, along with another couple who also have three children. The pub was sparse, but one person behind the bar was doing his best to cope. We ordered food and waited what felt like an age. Eventually it arrived and all was well. Unfortunately the. manager then appeared (apparently whilst his employee had been increasingly busy, he’d been sitting having an afternoon break with his mother) and complained that one of our children had leant across the table we were sitting at. I’ll say that again for clarity, he complained because one of our children had leant across a table. Don’t get me wrong, I’d be the first to complain if kids were running amok, being noisy and causing chaos but on this occasion, they had the audacity to lean across our table. This complaint happened again for some other reason that escapes me (I’m the first to rebuke my kids for even breathing noisily half of the time so I’m aware of what kids can do) and we took issue with it. To be honest, it felt like a bar manager trying to show off in front of his mum at what he perceived to be low hanging fruit. In reality and sadly, he came across like a sad young man who felt the need to throw his self-perceived weight around against parents and children. If you don’t want kids in there, I totally get that but please make that clear at the outset and don’t take our money.
Frankly, this is a woeful experience and avoidable. Hospitality is going through a bad time and behaviour like this leaves a bad taste and when the mums and dads ask us about our weekend and what we got up to, I’ll have no choice but to steer them away from what, based on todays experience is an anti-family...
Read moreOmg... the worst experience I have ever had... our first night in Cornwall falmouth to be exact and I have never experienced someone so rude as the waitress in charge tonight... we had a reservation and asked at time of booking to be seated near to tv for the football. We turned up waited to be seen and seated after 10 to 15 min of all staff walking past us a nice young lad asked if we had a reservation. We said yes and he seated us. After ordering our drinks some lady put a bit of paper on our table and it had reserved for 7pm on it. We called the rude lady to say we had a reservation she then tried to move us to a table right out of the way where you couldn't see the screen. We explained that we had already booked and ordered our drinks and food and dining think it was fair that she was trying to reseat us in a corner behind a big post. To which she then blatantly said well if u don't like it you can leave. Well gobsmacked is an understatement.. we couldn't understand why we had to move and why they could not seat someone else there we were settled and waiting for our food.. she is extremely rude and considering this is a seaside town and people coming to Cornwall or falmouth are tourists as such I think it was absolutely disgusting at her attitude towards her customers and feel she needs to gain some serious customer service skills... if u want to be spoken to so disgusting then this is ya place to go.. I wouldn't even bother giving it any stars if I...
Read more4 of us called in for lunch, had crab sandwich on the menu so asked for 2, couldn’t have that, no crab! Ordered 2 ploughman’s instead, couldn’t have that, no cheese or onions (could pad it out with more ham and bread!!). So ordered 1 chicken & bacon sandwich and 1 toasted chicken and bacon sandwich with a portion of chips. The food had already been paid for when the original order had been placed and a rather surly person who we took to be a manageress said the price worked out the same. The plain sandwich arrived but the toasted one didn’t arrive till later ... minus the chips!! When we told the girl we had also ordered a portion of chips, she just looked at us blank! We never got the chips, a refund or an apology! We assume they you to pay for the food on ordering or they would have a lot of people walk out without waiting. Certainly not a place...
