We went here after hearing good things. After being asked three times if we had booked, we were seated and then waited 20 minutes for someone to come and take a drinks order. Our starters turned up around 10 minutes later and we still had no drinks, one drink turned up after another 10 minuted and they said the other was on it's way, the bar lady had to get some barcardi to make the drink(I'd ordered a mai tai). Our mains turned up and I still hadn't had my drink, it eventually turned up but it didn't taste like what I'd asked for so the waitress took it back to make another one. I eventually got my drink over an hour after we arrived and after I had finished my meal and the drink was not like any mai tai I'd ever had, it wasn't nice. The manager kept apologising and told us the bar was low on staff however I saw people who had turned up later than us, get their drinks and food before us so it was obvious they were making whatever was easiest first rather than in order. The food was average and what dampened the mood was that we were sat by dirty plates and where the waitresses dished up the desserts...out of cardboard boxes. I appreciate not every restaurant is going to make their desserts but at least give the allusion they're made in house. At the end they said they would remove the drinks from the bill, when they bill arrived, they hadn't been removed so we questioned it, for them to only partially take the drinks off. A disappointing meal and we won't...
Read moreLovely roast, just a few points, I had the pork crackling, my crackling was very rubbery, absolutely no crackling on it, when asked if everything was OK with my meal the waitress literally asked as a passing comment and had left our table before I had a chance to complain about the crackling, also gravy was served over all my dinner including my Yorkshire pudding which I like crunchy, I would definitely ask for my gravy to be served on the side, I don't like my roast swimming in gravy, also our table was right in front of the cooking station and beside the area where the waitresses scrape the left over food in the bin, considering we had a table for 7, we were cramped, and felt it wasn't a peaceful area to eat with all the comings and goings of the waitresses, who also congregated in this area to chat, also when shown to the table not enough chairs in place and had to ask for more chairs, yes I would go back but ask to not be seated in front of cooking station and also to have my gravy served separately, also wouldn't choose the pork although it was beautiful the best part the crackling was severely...
Read moreDelicious Sunday roast!
I'd never considered visiting an Italian restaurant for Sunday lunch but after recommendations from family members, I decided to do so.
The two course Sunday lunch menu was well priced at £16.00 per person (although the lamb carried an additional £2.00 supplement) and the food was delicious. I ordered breaded mushrooms and roast chicken and my other half had calamari and roast lamb. Both starters were enjoyed but when the roast dinners were brought out, we were very impressed with the size of the meals and then additional vegetables arrived, including a bowl of cauliflower cheese. The gravy was so tasty and I actually asked for some more which was promptly brought out to the table. Every mouthful was delicious and there was so much food, we were well and truly stuffed!
There seemed to be a lot of young members of staff but every one we had an interaction with was friendly and helpful.
Overall our experience was very good and I will definitely return again for another meal, be that trying the Italian traditional foods or...
