Went with family for Sunday lunch was nothing special. We had thee courses all ok. Starter was nice pâté with crustini's, there was a big slice of pâté and not enough breed to go with it so ended up eating pâté by it's self, was really over faced for a starter.
Roast beef was nice, although the two slices were a bit on the mean side could have done with a third, Vegetables were all over cooked and very soft, gravy was lacking, everyone asked for more, half of mine was slopped off the plate before it turned up... Vegetarian option was nice but was not home made. Extra veg was brought out, but by the time that happened I had already finished. Desert was pleasant enough but not presented really as I was expecting, tasted nice but not really how I would have expected the desert to look. Staff were all friendly the place was clean and there were a few people of all ages there for food and drink. There was a line however of people for the carvery. My elderly parents enjoyed it though, which was the main thing. Overall it really was low quality not fine dining. I won't be rushing to eat there again. Place is wheel chair accessible, with...
Read moreI phoned the pub to see what time they stopped the Carvary, they said 4pm. Great, gets there and all the Carvary had been cleaned up but they continue to serve the carvary up on plates, so unable to choose what & how much veg wanted .... so not a Calvary then? I ordered myself & grandson medium size... he had Gammon, I had beef. The meal was very disappointimg, Just a few tiny oil soaked roast pots, fatty meat, cauliflower & broccoli that was very sloppy, well over cooked mush. Both meals swimming in gravy & wasn't even asked if we wanted gravy?! .. my grandson can't stand gravy! I wasn't asked if my meal was satisfactory and seeing that the chef's non paying friend had a plate of roast potatoes and gravy given to him when there was literally just 3 tiny potatoes on my plate, I would have gave a very honest answer. I will not be recommending the food to my friends or family. Potential to be a thriving pub serving good home cooked food but needs to up their game & give customers quality &...
Read moreWent to queen's head for my partner birthday, Bar staff ok, however as we wanted to have a Sunday lunch and we didn't book we were asked to wait until 2pm, as we were informed by bar staff that the kitchen, chef was on his own, customers don't need to know about staffing issues, so we waited until 150 then approaching the bar we ordered two dinners which took 45 minutes to arrive, and the menu did say seasonal vegetables, we had Swede and cabbage, undercooked cabbage, which I don't call seasonal, for the cost of £19, deffo not worth it, would not eat there again, refund would be good, was quite until we had two kids running around, and carpet badly stained also I was sat on a...
