*SICK FOR 5 DAYS * one star is to much for this review the morning 10 o'clock 9th October (my birthday) my father invited me to the jolly sailor - JD Wetherspoon 53 High St, Hanham, Bristol BS15 3DQ for a birthday breakfast and a pint. Both of us had the same - large breakfast and pint on Thatchers haze.
Only one day after this meal both me and my 78 year old father fell terribly ill. NOTE (this is the only meal that me and my father had together alone. other meals that day had included other family members and they had not been sick) feeling dehydrated and having chronic diarrhea. neither of us could leave the house. after 5 days had passed i was feeling better but my father was not. calling 111 and a nurse visiting the house taking tests. the nurse calling the sickness gastroenteritis. at the time of this post my father is still week and has low blood pressure and diarrhea and awaiting test results. please if you are reading this review and know of anyone that is thinking of going to this place, i beg you to reconsider/or tell them to reconsider. its not worth the risk Thank you for reading...
Read moreIf you read my other reviews, you will notice I'm a fan of Wetherspoons establishments and have always given good reviews. However on my visits to this particular one, it has left me disappointed. On the first occasion I had forgotten my phone so couldn't use the app and was told to use the green/red card system, this seemed a good idea but was flawed by the fact the staff walked past and didn't take our order for a good 30min. I know, we are in funny times, but the staff kept allowing people in and couldn't cope with the app orders and the card system. On the second occasion I remembered my phone, check in was easy and was told to make our way upstairs, upon picking table 99, I found a wallet that contained cards and cash and promptly found a member of staff to hand it too. There was no thanks for doing so, I know it wasn't her wallet, but there was nothing in response. When we received our food, we were informed there was no forks available, but two would be brought over.........they weren't, so sticky fingers whilst we ate! Have had miles better and expected better, not...
Read moreWe have been using The Jolly Sailor for the last 5 years for our staff meetings once every couple of months on a Wednesday morning around 8am. I always call in a week or two before to ask permission for our meeting which I did in mid-January. We went in at 8am on Wednesday just gone and we where told there where no notes in the diary, we couldn't have our staff meeting as the manager was about to go on her break and the only staff member would be unable to attend to us. The manager who is normally very helpful and supportive was very short tempered and rude. As our office is next door to The Jolly Sailor it has always been a great location to meet.
Having been turned away we jumped in our vans and went up the road to The Harvester in Longwell Green where we had a much better breakfast and a much better meeting, we only spent ÂŁ59.43 on breakfast which it seems Weatherspoon's can...
