The Little Bakehouse — Restaurant in England

I love this little bakehouse. Right from the start Phil has been friendly and patient taking time to answer questions about ingredients and what he does to make the cookies or the bread. He really loves to bake and he is proud of it and this shows in the quality of his bread. What is really great is that he works away while taking some time to chat- explaining to me how he makes his little custard tarts with filo pastry or pausing to roll out some dough. It is a real joy to see a baker at work. Going in for a friendly chat and the best bread I have had in a very long time has become one of the highlights of my day on my weekly shopping trip into Devizes. I cant leave a review without saying something about his what by now must be famous moustache - Phil could give Hercule Poirot a run...

We were camping locally and always pop in to the Little Bakehouse when we can. It never disappoints, the bread is always delicious and the lardy cake is superb. This time we had a beef pasty for lunch and it was really tasty, a proper pasty with good meat and veg balance and lovely pastry. Fantastic artisan bakers in Devizes. As the name implies this is not a large establishment. Room for 1or 2 only in the shop if it is raining. The quality & flavour of the products I sampled were superb & at a very fair price served by a lovely hard working lady. I can recommend the pork pie, pasties lava cake & bread.
