Struggling here. Don't want to damage the reputation of a business that's only just opened, but there is a lot to sort out and I'm happy to re-review later...
The ambience is great. Lovely setting, lovely look, polite staff. Impressed there was even a DJ! Food is tasty.
Unfortunately, too many (I hope teething) problems ruining the experience. Staff clearly don't know the menu yet - fair enough. Ordered a Coke Zero, which was on the menu, but staff came back with a 500ml diet Coke. Told them I'd prefer full fat in that case. Came back with a miniscule 200ml bottle! Outrageous that that costs £3??? They offered to bring another to make up for it, but of course ended up charging me twice for it...seriously? £6 for 400ml - not even a pint of soft drink!
I then asked very clearly, several times for the vegan parcels, not the beef ones...and the beef ones came out, so had to wait an extra 20 minutes for the correct ones, by which time I'd already finished my main because it was a ridiculously tiny portion.
I then asked for salted caramel ice cream to go with the brownie instead of the standard vanilla, and although thus was seemingly understood - no luck - given both and charged for both. Probably should have expected that.
The couple sat next to my group weren't served food for over an hour so got fed up of waiting and left. Fair enough.
I don't want to be mean so soon, but honestly, £6 for 400ml Coke - still not even a full glass - is madness. Not to mention you barely get a palm sized amount of rice with...
Read moreWe were a party of 4 and unfortunately was disappointed this time. We were seated upstairs and it was so noisy…. We could hardly hear each other without stretching across the table. There was a very large party seated directly behind us and a couple of other larger parties. On leaving there were a few customers saying the same and saying they were glad they were not seated upstairs. It is very dark upstairs and you can only read the menu using your light on your phone. It was very busy in the restaurant and I think the service could have been better, we had to ask to order our food, we had to ask for cutlery, we had to ask to order further drinks. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful and knowledgeable about the menu, but felt she was very rushed and trying to serve too many people. The food was however very nice and presented very well. We did explain our concerns to the male waiter who took our payment, who did apologise but was seen discussing our conversation with other members of staff.. He did suggest us to request a table downstairs next time… however this could be difficult if everyone is asking to sit downstairs, as you reserve tables online and the restaurant is shut at the beginning of the week. Unfortunately we will not be coming back due to noise of the restaurant and that you cannot hear each other. This is not what I would expect when I go out for a...
Read moreDelicious food, starters superb but mains were too spicy. The menu had chillies next to spicy dishes (1,2 or 3) My husband chose a spicy dish (3 chillies) as he likes hot food but said that the heat took away from the flavour. My daughter and I both chose dishes with no chillies but they were spicy and even had chillies in them. Service was ok, if a little slow, it was half an hour between finishing starters and mains arriving and restaurant was not busy. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. To improve, staff could do with training on clearing tables effectively. It took 3 trips to clear 6 small plates. Overall, if you like Thai and spicy food worth a try. I don't think I would choose to go back as the main was very expensive considering I didn't...
