Before I explain the rating, the overall service, staff and food is good. The rating is based on poor management decisions and reaction to our feedback. We were an early booked table arriving at 5.45. According to the owner, with 35 mins to go and no delay by ourselves, it was decided that dessert could not be eaten by 8pm and when their next set of customers would arrive. Instead of making us aware and pushing us to finish nearer the time, management decided to move us to their garden to sit in isolation. After politely agreeing in typical British fashion with 10 minutes of moving us and taking our order, reality hit to our situation when we finished our meal and paying just after 8.05, sitting in a chilly garden. We complained to the owner. While I understand the owner's view and concern, her response / attitude was unsatisfactory and the situation was completely disrespectful to an already paying / seated customer. We could have stayed seated indoors, finished and left by 8, especially if we were notified of the next reservation (as is what normally happens in a restaurant). The situation simply should not have happened and hopefully ownership will not do this to another customer. Overall, while good, Pig was not worth the sour resentment and we will probably never return. NOTE: The owner did refund our desserts but still received a fairly chunky payment from a set of...
Read moreWe came to the Tickled Pig during our day in Wimborne, they were apparently fully booked but asked if we'd be happy to site at a table in the garden and as it was pleasant outside we agreed.. we had a the garden to ourselves fairly long and narrow covered in pebbles.. we were greeted by friendly staff and given menus and beers we had ordered.. three of the four of us went for the Pork Belly (£18 each) and the last for an Aberdeen Angus Burger (£17).. and we had two sharing starters between us (£6 each) which was bread, balsamic and olives. The sharing starters were brought out and consisted three triangles of bread, olive oil and balsamic and a small dish of olices.. we thought it odd that three triangles of bread had been put on for two people.? we therefore asked for a couple more triangles which were brought without fuss and a smile. The mains were very nice and tasty but I think we all agreed that the price tag of the mains were probably around 30% overpriced. However, it was a pleasant meal in good surrounds and as such we had another beer and made the most of it before paying and leaving. Only the prices would put me off revisiting.. but these may be right for Wimborne.. as this was the only food we purchased we have no gauge. Nice place, friendly staff and an enjoyable food nobody could ever...
Read moreAfter a recommendation from our Airbnb host, we decided to give the restaurant a try. We are here visiting for a long weekend and upon trying to book a table, we were notified that all the tables were full. I was able to put our name down on a waiting list and I left a note for the restaurant to say that we weren’t locals but would really love to try the restaurant before we head back home. Sure enough, within the next couple of days I got a phone call from a very kind lady at The Wimborne Pig to say that a table had become available and that they had called us first as they wanted to be able to seat us before we leave. The wait for the table and last minute booking was so worth it! We had the best meal that we have had in a very very long time. Everything was cooked/prepared to perfection and we walked away that evening comfortably full! All the staff that we had the pleasure of meeting were so kind and down to earth and they even reseated us after noticing themselves that we didn’t have much room at our original table. I am over the moon with our experience and when we return for another weekend, we’ll be sure to book back at The Wimborne Pig for another delicious...
