Food is what you would expect from a chain pub, but it came out hot & we didn't have to wait too long for it but equally didn't taste like it had been sat on a hot plate waiting to be served or if it had- not all morning! We had cooked breakfast just before 12. Free refill hot drinks and for the price for 2 people at nowadays was good value especially if you stayed for a bit to enjoy the refills. Good for families with little kids as space not cram as many tables as you can, which I understand why places do to keep afloat. We were 2 adults, but I would bring kids of all ages here as well as adults of all ages. Definite shout out to staff who took orders & served us - one of the managers, another 2 front staff/ servers & a girl called Izzy who went out of her way to help my sister. Plenty staff to ask for service or help with coffee machine etc & they all did it with a smile & like with Izzy she went an extra step & made the drink for my sister who gave her a look when she found out the machine was self service- she quickly just saw her face & knew....if she hadn't sorted it offering to get it for her it would have been me going to make the drink lol!! Saturday night meal out and the food and service were exemplary! A few weeks ago I paid £130 for a meal for 2 for a special occasion at a lovely restaurant and I can honestly say the service was easily as good as that restaurant at the Merlin from all the staff who served us. Sacha who took our order was very professional, clear and courteous making sure our order was correct before taking payment. I even mentioned to a lady who served me some drinks later on how good and efficient her service was. We have eaten on Wednesdays at the Merlin for curry night and always come away feeling that it was a bit lacking in quality but it is good value... This meal and service was like eating at a different pub! Night and day different I'd say. So much better! We'll definitely be returning for a Saturday night meal on our recent findings.
