I booked ‘Nicco Restaurant’ 2 weeks in advance after being informed that the initial restaurant I had booked didn’t have a bar or allow you to bring your own alcohol. The party I had booked for do like an alcoholic beverage with their meal. Our table was booked for 20:00pm. Our party had all arrived by 19:45pm. We got a drink and head to the Garden area. I made the colleague at the entrance aware that we were in the garden when our table is ready. The colleague was profusely apologetic as they were running a little behind. 20 minutes went by and we still had not sat down. I went back again, the lady once again was really sorry. Very polite and professional . Slightly disappointing that we’d booked a table but due to the Derby County match we were having to wait. It got to 20:40 before we sat down. Once we’d sat down and we’re given menus, we hadn’t been asked / served any drinks. Eventually a drinks order was given and free popadoms and dips due to the wait. We then sat waiting again, and I then had to ask if someone could come and take our food order. A waiter arrived to take our order. Within 15 min all the food for all 8 of us had arrived. Slightly concerning, but, we all ate and we all enjoyed the food. I’ve wanted to dine at Niccos since it’s opening. Although the food was excellent and the vibe is brilliant, the service could do with some little improvements. We also got a free shot at the end of the night. Niccos also have a Dj night. Great idea. The next one is £55pp but seems a great night. It can be very busy in there, along with the hussle and bustle, and the music it can get quite loud. I enjoyed the atmosphere, it was great. Definitely worth going for the food if your going, but be patience and prepare to wait. Thank you for the Nicco...
Read moreWe have wanted to visit Niccos for a while now and we had a wonderful experience. We sent Wednesday lunchtime and it hadn't been opened long but there were already loads of tables occupied which was a big surprise.
We hadn't booked but they were able to find us a table.
On arrival we got asked if we had any allergies, where we specified cucumber. When we were taken to our table by Diana we weren't asked this question even though there are dishes with cucumber in so we felt like we needed to mention it again - perhaps it was on the ordering device.
The food and drinks order were taken very quickly. As we hadn't dined here before we weren't sure on the portion sizes of the rice and curries. After eating we felt like 1 rice was more than enough for 2 people as we ended up leaving a lot.
The curry portions sizes were also very good. We ordered Palak Paneer (which was our favourite) and Paneer Mirchi Masala as the vegetarian mains. There was plenty to go around.
The food was hot, we were under a fan so we do feel like our food got colder quicker so we would choose somewhere else to sit next time.
Waiting for the bill at the end was a very very long wait, it gave us time for our food to go down which was good, but we had to call someone over eventually. We assumed we would be asked if we wanted a dessert and at the time we would ask for the bill but just no one came to us. We must have been sat there for 30-40 minutes after we had finished.
The toilets were nice and clean and everywhere else was clean.
We really did enjoy our experience and at the end we did get offered if we want to take the rest home with us which was...
Read moreWe visited Nicco Restaurant and Bar on the spur of the moment for lunch on Wednesday 13th Sept 2023. We'd been several times before (lunch, early evening and the incredible breakfast) and have always had a fantastic experience and fantastic food. This was no different. Grace welcomed us with a big smile and a friendly chat. Our hostess was Jaymee. She greeted us with a warm, friendly smile and was extremely welcoming and attentive to us throughout lunch. Both Grace and Jaymee separately checked with us around food allergies and intolerances before we started, which was good to see. We had the very tasty poppadum's and pickles as a starter whilst waiting for mains. For these, I had the kebab Naanwich (again!) with the addition of extra chicken tikka (highly recommended!) and wifey had the Rosemary chicken. Both our dishes were incredibly tender and full of immense flavour. Both came with incredibly tasty masala chips which were the 'proper' chunky kind rather than the 'french fries' style and complimented the food perfectly. We really can't say enough good things about this place and the people that make it. It's very clean (including the toilets!) contemporary and very welcoming. Looking around whilst trying not to eat my Naanwich too fast, it's obvious that the staff have a real pride in their role, the venue and the service they deliver. Grace and Jaymee were no different and were real ambassadors for Niccos on our visit - flying the Niccos flag from a great height. Big thanks to all for a memorable...
