The Nags Head Rochester — Restaurant in England

A traditional pub in Rochester Kent. Split on two levels with a pool table in the top section. They have a jukebox and often have local live bands. There is a courtyard at the rear where smoking is allowed. There is a good selection of beers , wines and spirits plus they do coffees, cappuccino, latte etc. Prices are a little lower than some other pubs in the area. The pubs customers a primarily locals, the atmosphere is friendly. They have bar snacks but currently do not serve food although snacks are served at their Sunday night quiz. The pub, as a whole, is a good visit if you're going for a pint and a chat. Friendly staff and a good atmosphere. The only let down is the pool table and the area around it. The table is 40 years old, and one of the cushions is completely dead of bounce, we were told this by the league players. The other thing is, you cannot play many shots with a full cue. Many times, I had to unscrew my cue to not hit the walls. Even then, it is still not short enough to play the shot. Not entirely sure why I go here. The barmaids change almost weekly, which isn't a great sign for how they are treated. The landlord and landlady are....characters. I have several stories I could tell...Given it's a very indie/student pub which often has live music, the landlady coming out steaming and putting 30 minutes of atmosphere killing Nicki Minaj on the jukebox was always a highlight.
