The Nuthatch — Restaurant in England

The Nuthatch is an absolute shining beacon in Middlesbrough and the visit was a delight. We were running late, so let the staff know and we're welcomed anyway. The menu is fabulous with wonderful and imaginative cocktail options. We were celebrating so had 3 drinks each, over a couple of unhurried hours. Service was top notch, the place was spotless and the ambience just right. For the first round, we chose a classic Old Fashioned and a Martini with champagne foam atop a cheeky female form glass (I loved the glass, apologies I can't remember the name of the drink!). Both were beautifully balanced and delicious. Round two was a blueberry sour and a Salt Old Fashioned. Oh my, so good. I could smell the sea in the old fashioned and the sour was like a dessert. The customer service was very poor. We booked a table in advance, however, it took over 40 minutes between arriving and getting our first drink. One of my friends had to leave early but they claimed they had already made her drink so said she had to pay for it (even though it then arrived 15 minutes after this conversation). The cocktails were nice but not worth the price (around £8.50 a cocktail) and it then took us over 20 minutes to pay for the bill (and this was after reminding them we wanted to pay). This is without doubt the best cocktail bar in Boro if not in Teesside. These guys really know their stuff. Premium spirits and amazing flavours. You have to experience the taste to understand the difference between a cheap ready mixed drink and what these guys are offering. There is absolutely no comparison. Combine this with a great relaxing atmosphere and attentive, passionate staff and you will not go wrong for a night out in Boro.
