We do love coming here. The woods are beautiful, peaceful yet simple as given by nature and different to other ones in York (somewhat more relaxing and catching ) Clean throughout and large enough for walk and to play. Feels safe to -in the day . Playground has plenty of shades and play equipments-although not many or newish (possibly due for update)but they are good enough for keeping kids busy.l I.e.zipline. To the front there is also a basketball area and other play equipment just opposite. A football area to the main playground . Benches and beautiful flowers . .Parking spaces all around the park -to the entrances . There are toilets (which unfortunately isn't very nice/hygienic) and a small 'cafe shop 'with drink, snacks etc at a very good prices ( hygiene I'm not too.sure of) In overall ,a pleasant place to go.

West Bank Park is a great place to find a good mix of birds, the greater spotted is Woodpecker was heard and often seen rattling after grubs in the old trees last year. Volunteers keep the park looking good, I met a botanist pruning back the grapevine it yields small and tasty grapes in season so watch for them before the birds get them. I was amazed two years ago when I came across fungi in the woodland area and began to photograph the different types and kinds. Two years on and I still see new species and have amassed hundreds of snaps in the park alone. Play areas sit at one at each end and are popular with the families who visit and there are secluded areas to sit and rest if you have walked around. There are bowllng greens and an orchard was introduced recently and is doing well.

An absolute disgrace of a park ! I used to love taking my dog and children to this park. It has a lovely cafe and play area which kept my cheeky boys occupied. It also has a forest where my dog can run and play . But last time I came to this park with my daughter I was met with an unpleasant sight ! 3 young boys came up to us and flashed us their private areas ! The pure shock of being in the forest, isolated, with my daughter was enough to make me never want to come back again . Vile behaviour and vile users of such a beautiful place.

This is a really lovely park. It has everything you need and is a really enjoyable, attractive, safe space.. It is a really big park and has 3 (I think) entrances/exits, all into the same space. It's been designed really well so that some of the open space has been split off with tall trees. There's loads of open grass for playing or picknicking and some goals have been placed in one area, for football. There's a more dense forest area. There's a lovely smaller square lawn area that is surrounded by really tall trees. There's a walkway through the middle that is covered in hanging foliage and flowers in the spring/summer. There are smaller, more private green areas split off, with benches. There's a small pond. There's a tennis/basketball court at one entrance. There's a playground at the other end with loads of equipment and a zip wire! There are 2 really well looked after bowling lawns and a clubhouse. There are toilets and a small cafe with a big noticeboard of events. Wednesday mornings (I think the 3rd of each month) is doggie Wednesday. There is a defibrillator on site. The park has won awards and there's no doubt it is loved and looked after. The beds are all planted really nicely. Thank you to all of the volunteers who maintain this...
