25plus yrs drinking here. Ales selection is superb and 50% of staff are brilliant. But a 2.5k word article (so far and more to come) highlights some shocking & in some cases illegal practices. Won't stop me loving the place or being grateful for the 50% that make the place the manor to myself and friend's. The newest member of male staff (if I'm wrong on their pro nouns I apologise) offered up the latest farcical experience only a week before this review and its going to make for hilarious, yet shocking reading. A staff member trying to stand over you while you sit and acting threatening and intimidating because you said the words 'your welcome' is laughable (& not intimidating lol), over them trying to give us someone else's food then lying to us saying it was ordered from Our mate at our table who we infact did not know. The food is perfectly fine at the prices and I'm grateful. Just sad when you get that one chef who makes you finish off your own food outside, when the food all ends on the floor that should have been done in a kitchen, the scenario is met by a staff member clearing plates saying 'oh really oh well while walking away. The refund also never came. At those price we don't care but we will write a 2.5plus article 😆

Outside space is amazing except for the wasp nest next to our favourite spot which is alot of fun 5 drinks in and allergic. But we all find it funny and it's more fun than dealing with the other 50% of staff. I have to leave you with a quote from An unnamed staff member (management or supervisor)

'Yes I know its illegal but its company policy I need my job. There were 20 plus ppl eating Breakfast hearing this said. The context of that statement will be listed in the finished article.

BUT THE MANOR IS...

A typical Wetherspoons; located inside a number of buildings that have been joined together. As a result, there are some doorways with reduced heights (mind your head!), and various different rooms throughout.

It can be OK for someone with reduced mobility, as long as they stay in the area immediately inside the main door. Other sections have steps which would make it awkward moving about.

The toilets were clean and generally OK, although I did notice some mould on the grout between tiles in one corner which some might find off-putting.

Usual type of decoration theme for this type of pub. However, the section we were in had large sheets of chipboard pinned up on the ceiling; no idea why. It wasn't clear if this was temporary, or as part of some maintenance or refurbishment.

They have a substantial menu, and a wide range of beers & spirits. In addition, they have various special offers throughout the week, which can make it a bit confusing.

It was rather quiet when we were there, which I thought was a bit unusual for a 'spoons. Service was good, food delivered quickly. Good presentation, and overall, good value for money.

There is a car park outside the pub, but you have to pay to use it. Use the ticket machine and take your ticket to the bar; they will knock the price of parking...

Nice pub in a great location as I regularly stay in a nearby hotel, and sometimes you just want a simple, good value meal and a beer or two - and that’s what Wetherspoons has done for many years. I travel a lot and have visited many, so I know what they do well. I do not quite know what has gone wrong with the Old Manor, but I have been staying near here for the past month or so, and it seems that things have just fallen apart. They have ran out of many beers (Punk IPA for at least two weeks, San Miguel, Stella and many others) and the draft beers have been quite frankly flat and undrinkable. I had to ask for a member of the bar staff to fit a sparkler to the pump which made absolutely no difference. The service recently has been quite terrible because they simply do not have enough staff. Even when it is not particularly busy, there are unacceptable queues at the bar. For me, the final nail in the coffin was tonight being evicted from my table when ordering food to be told that they were closing down that section of the pub due to lack of staff. I then left and I ate and drank elsewhere. My experience over the past few weeks has been of a really, really terrible example of a...

Be aware you need to pay to park to a secondary company. Euro Car Parks... an infamous fleecer. I'm sure there were probably signs up... but when you pull into what looks like the pubs own car park, right next to their beer garden, and are trying to corall people... human nature leads to this being easily missed. Usually if there's parking restrictions, you're told when you're at the bar, and most even take your registration. Nothing was mentioned. The staff should advise those who come into the pub that the car park is pay and display. If they had, I would have gone back out and paid. Instead I've been hit with a £75 fine. A good, friendly pub would inform their patrons, and would even dislike that their car park is controlled by a business looking to profit from opportunistic fees. They should make it a point to make sure their customers aren't fined 👌.

The Old Manor is the oldest Wetherspoons opened outside of London - way back in 1993. Overlooked by many visitors to the town centre, now the Lexicon Centre has opened. However, a short walk away is reasonably priced food and drink in Bracknell, it is well worth a visit. Have visited here many times over the years. If real ales are your tipple, worth checking the app. As the range that is on is usually spread between both the main and side bars. Usually pop in for Breakfast if I'm in the area - which can be had for a reasonable £4.95. Update 31/12/2023. Popped in for the fabled Turkey Dinner - the nearest you will to a roast dinner at Wetherspoons- and a pint of Green Jack Lurcher stout. It would be great if Wetherspoons started doing roast dinners once again. It was a stupid decision to remove them and the 'Sunday Club' a few years ago!

This was what I didn't find in the steak and kidney pudding. They gave me another and only a teaspoon more inside. The gravy was cold and watery. The chips were dry. Garden peas were nice. Staff were nice. I won't bother coming back for a long time. FURTHER TO MY FIRST REVIEW Wanted to see if I could meet a group at The Manor to surprise them. Paid the £2 parking and ordered a coffee as the group weren't there yet. Gave the receipt part from machine to bar staff only to be told they don't do that now. You get free parking by putting your registration number into a machine at the bar. What a con when they have used the other system for years. Yes, on looking, the sign does say this but I wonder how many others have been caught out. I cancelled my coffee as I wasn't that desperate.
