We visited here on Thursday evening for a date night dinner. I’d been dying to try the chowder for a while, so had this as my starter and I was not disappointed! It was absolutely delicious and really beautifully presented in the small cob roll too. When our dinners came out, there was a very unfortunate incident whereby the waiter dropped the entirety of my partners plate and dinner all over him, ruining his clothes with grease and food stains. The male waiter (who transpired to be a supervisor) was very apologetic and took my partners dinner away to be remade. I asked him to also take mine and the sides we’d ordered because it was now going to go cold whilst waiting, and he refused to have another made, saying he’d ‘put it under the hot lamp and it would be fine’. I expressed my concerns that it wouldn’t be very fresh or hot, and he told me it would be all fine. After about 20 mins, and once my partner had gone to wash his top in the bathroom, the dinners were brought back out, and low and behold mine was STONE cold. I called him back over immediately, and told him that as I’d explained, my dinner was now cold where it had been sat for so long. He huffed, rolled his eyes and said he go and see how long it would be for another lot of ribs. I stopped him, explaining ‘No because then my partners dinner will be cold! Stop bringing out one meal at a time and just do us both fresh dinners like I asked in the first place. We’re here to eat together not separately’. He literally darted off across the restaurant without response, and 15 mins later I gave up and went to speak to a female whom I was told was the pub manager. She could not have been more professional and lovely. She immediately got two fresh dinners made for us, and told us if the clothes were completely ruined to send the dry cleaning bill or cost of the items to the restaurant for compensation. Once we’d finished, we went to pay the bill and found she’d taken all of the food off of the bill as a good will gesture! I was genuinely shocked as I only really expected for my partners dinner to be removed given the circumstances. I wish I’d taken her name so I could really thank her, but she really turned our rather rubbish evening into a good one, and she’s an asset the to...
Read moreI'd like to share my whole hearted thanks to the team which supported my Grandad's wake on Tuesday this week. I would like to highlight the ease of booking with the reservation team, who also helped to amend the wake menu to tailor to a more veggie spread. On the day we were able to go in and dress the area and we were met by Justin, who kindly help go over a few details and supported us with our requests, he also kindly agreed to hold on to the display trumpet in the office. Upon arrival, we were slightly early and that wasn't an issue, I was assigned David who was amazing at communicating with me for the whole evening - any request wasn't too much trouble, such as bar tabs, bringing out the food a little earlier, bringing out the chees board later and then helping with packing up the left over food. Finally David agreed we could come the following morning to help un decorate / take our items home and upon arrival the team had carefully removed everything and neatly piled everything for our collection. Organising something this heart felt is challenging at the best of times but the day and everything beforehand was so easy to do. The food btw was delicious so also compliment to the chef too! Could recommend anyone looking to visit to do so, the staff are friendly, food is great and the venue is top notch! We will see you again on the 26th with a smaller group to celebrate Grandads birthday. Thank you all at the Pete Boat for making our...
Read moreEnjoyed a three course lunch at the Peterboat which is part of the history of leigh on sea. Plenty of outdoor picnic tables with parasols with the seaview. Plenty of highchairs to welcome families. Outdoor structure with heating for winter and windows and blinds for summer indoor dinning available too. I called to check availability and was given a warm welcome and checked what I needed as I mentioned I have mobility difficulties and was advised there was one step. On arrival we were greeted and I was given two options of dining areas. Both have one step, one was smaller and easily manageable. Welcomed by Geoff our waiter who made sure we had everything we needed. I had a great elderflower and mint non alcoholic cocktail. We can recommend all of our courses. The smoked Haddock and cockle chowder and whitebait to start. The skate with capers and the catch of the day which was stone bass with mussels. Followed by apple and cherry crumble and lemon and mango sorbet. Ended with a lovely smooth coffee. A hearty tasty meal from start to finish . Everything was cooked well, served hot and by pleasant happy staff. We visited at 3pm on a Monday the restuarent was busy but not packed. I've past the peterboat on previous leigh visits in the summer and it always looks busy which is definitely a good sign. I embarrassed to say this was my first visit despite visiting leigh regularly since I was a child but it...
