I never leave bad reviews but our visit to The Refill Room left a really sour taste. Having used the same type of shop in Chelmsford before, I love the concept and the selection in Leigh was great. We wanted a selection of chocolates and deliberately only selected 5 types that were identical in cost so that it would be ok to put them together in the same jar. We ended up with around half a jar, probably around 200 grams worth. When we got to the till the sales assistance called her manager over who insisted that we separate out all of the chocolate into individual paper bags. When I questioned if that was really necessary for such a small amount she insisted it was due to their system and stock taking. We are talking about the kind of amount that someone could easily spill when using the dispensers, not exactly a kilogram or two to affect their stock levels. As giving the items back wasn't an option, there we stood at the till separating out chocolates into 5 paper bags and staff printed out 5 labels for that each item - pretty ironic for an eco friendly shop. The manager even added 'now you know for next time.' Thank you for the patronising comment but I can assure you there will not be one due to your insane levels...
Read moreBeautiful shop, brilliant concept and fabulous to have a zero waste shop as stunning as this in Leigh. Love the huge variety of oils, grains, herbs and spices, nut butters, legumes, nuts, teas and laundry and beauty products and they're all organic, sustainable and perfectly priced. The Refill Room also stock many gluten free and fragrance free items which are perfect for me! It's super so easy to fill up and buy - I bring all my containers, bottles, jars in a big canvas bag, choose, weigh, have chat (with the lovely friendly staff) and go! When I need to top up the odd item here and there, they also have paper bags to fill up in. I've reduced our plastic massively since it's opened and reduced the online grocery shop too. Highly recommend popping in, sharing with all your friends and family and start adopting a plastic...
Read moreThe Refill shop is a fantastic concept to reduce your plastic waste as well as your food waste. It also allows you to try different foods without committing to a huge packet like you’d have to buy in a supermarket. They don’t only just sell food but also plastic free bathroom products & kitchen cleaning products. The shop is clean where good hygiene has been thought about and the products are fresh. My understanding is that the source of the products is also very important to the owner such as having the right ethos in producing the items and supporting small...
