Visited last June but giving the review now because it crossed my mind and was bugging me. We visited during a 7 day holiday and Bridlington was lovely (maybe other people don't think so) and we were lucky to have good weather. It was me, my disabled wife who uses a wheelchair or a mobility scooter and our well behaved little Jackapoo. We decided to stop for a drink outside the Prior John because the weather was glorious. Staff were collecting empty glasses outside and nothing was said as we sat down to a table. I then went inside to order a pint of beer and a refillable coffee for my wife and after getting served I went to the coffee machine for my wife. I had 2 sips from the pint then a member of staff came up to me and said are you with the woman and dog outside? I said yes, she said dog's weren't allowed but the manager as said you can finish your drinks and go. No clear signage was up and at this point my wife was already ringing me from outside to tell me what the member of staff at told her. I decided to have a refund and go somewhere else to a pub with people who actually had manners. When going to the bar for the refund the manager said signs are clear dogs aren't allowed even outside, well to you "head up your own arse" manager no they are not CLEAR it's in small print try putting bigger signs up even your own staff don't know the rules as they let us sit outside to a table while collecting empty glasses. You shouldn't be in the hospitality trade and I hope you...
Read moreI was persuaded to go here for breakfast whilst on holiday camping, we arrived early and got a parking space in the all day car park near the harbour. With my arm being held up behind my back, I was marched into the establishment, careful to evade the 5 mobility scooters parked outside. One of which had a full waterproof cover and a place to put your newspaper, very fancy. The place was full, some couples chatting, others ignoring each other completely, teas and coffees being consumed by the hundreds, free refills of course. We took seats upstairs just off the mezzanine and ordered our breakfast via the app, very modern. I plumped for the American style breakfast, as the pancakes were a recommended to me. I joined the queue for the coffee machine and everything was civil. Quite nice really, being surrounded by other holiday makers at 10am queuing for a drink. Our food arrived 1hr and 15minutes after we ordered it, I'd joined the drinks queue 3 times during this time, I'm happy to say the conderments were stocked up to a good standard, however this was not pleasing enough for me to rate this experience more than 2 stars. Food was nice but the wait for it ruined it. I complained to customer services via the website, but I'm still waiting for a response, maybe they have a wait on email replies too. We finally got out of the place about 12 noon, and yes the fancy mobility scooter was still there. If you...
Read moreJust a short walk from the North Promenade in Bridlington awaits the Wetherspoon fan to enjoy a wealth of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks at very reasonable prices as well as their meals which fans of this chain will know and trust that are also reasonablely priced and most now include a alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink. The prices fit this economic climate we are all facing . The Prior John as been extended into a church building next door recently and this has doubled the seating capacity ,the church features can be seen in my posted photo's and what a place it is to spend some time here , there are railway posters adjoining the walls on the upper Mezzanine advertising Bridlington , one side as a floor to ceiling bookcase were you can peruse while enjoying your coffee or tea . The original side of the Prior John is still the same , but the extension offers more seating at this popular and often busy establishment. It is a very vibrant and clean building , well lit with interesting architecture , the staff are friendly and helpful , good food and beer , a small outside seating area , I could not see a designated car park , but onroad parking near. Like most spoons the toilet's are on the first floor for the Gents but they are clean and bright and well maintained and fresh. Disabled toilets on the ground floor and I think the Ladies are as well. Highly recommend and...
