We received poor service from the waitress. We were initially seated at a table in direct sunlight. When I requested to move to an adjacent table, which was unoccupied, the waitress displayed a dismissive attitude, responding with a casual "yeah, I suppose so." Furthermore, we had to relocate all of our condiments and cutlery on our own.
My wife specifically requested her Pepsi without ice, but it was served with ice regardless. The waitress claimed not to have heard the request and reluctantly offered to attempt removing the ice.
Following that, my wife inquired whether she could have the fish of the day accompanied by a salad instead of potatoes and vegetables, (as she is on a strict diet). The waitress appeared shocked by the request and expressed her intention to consult with the kitchen.
Upon her return, she confirmed that they could accommodate the request for a salad. However, what was served was a fish dish accompanied by a side salad and chips!
I ordered the £14 burger, but what arrived was an extremely overcooked patty, sandwiched between a stale bun and, despite there being chips advertised as part of the meal, I received less chips than my wife, (who specifically requested no chips in favour of a salad!).
After adhering to a strict diet for weeks and this being my first indulgence, it was a welcomed experience to savour a beef burger with bread. However, it was disheartening that the burger resembled a rubber ball and the bun had been served despite being stale.
The entire meal, (including 3 ciders and 2 cokes), amounted to over £60!
Considering the absence of starters, desserts, and with the numerous issues with the main course - this price, to me, seemed excessive.
To make matters worse, throughout the evening, I endured continuous jostling and prodding from passing individuals due to our table's placement in the narrow bar area as I was seated on a stool with my back facing the main bar.
Overall, I found the experience overpriced, for a below average meal with rubbish service in an overcrowded environment. I would not recommend anyone with £60+ to spare, to spend it here and I will not be returning. I fully appreciate that this pub gets most of it custom from holidaymakers staying locally and that this transient custom is their main source of income, but this is one local who will not be parting with £60+ again be it in their fertile busy period, or in their barren winter period, when reliance on us locals becomes more paramount. I would rate this establishment as...
Read moreThis is a lovely little pub in a small village and within walking distance of several camping and caravan sites. It provides both indoor seating and a couple of lovely outside areas too. If you are planning on eating you will need to book to avoid disappointment.
We ate a Sunday lunch today, table of 6 of which we had 4 adults and 2 children under 5.
The pub was busy, all tables inside and several outside were also in use. Service was prompt and all staff we interacted with were friendly, pleasant and approachable.
After being seated we were offered drinks quickly and these arrived promptly and prices were reasonable for the area.
We all ordered a 3 course Sunday roast. Given this was a 'meal deal', the portion sizes were adequate, for example, calamari had 8 pieces and breaded halloumi came as 4 pieces the size of fish fingers.
The main was beef or turkey, veg option available too. Both meat choices came with 3 generous slices of meat, 3 large roast potatoes plus seasonal veg and a yorkshire pudding. Even the child's meal consisted of 2 slices of meat, 1 potato and seasonal veg and yorkshire pudding, this was sufficient to feed both our children.
For dessert, sticky toffee pudding and cheesecake were our choices and both were generous in serving size.
Overall, we were impressed with not only the service received, we were equally impressed with the quality of the food.
Well worth a visit and highly...
Read moreVery disappointing experience.
We had booked a table, and when we arrived we were not approached by any staff, they just looked at us blankly, and we had to find our own table.
The service was slow and we had to ask where our drinks were since we had been waiting for a while. We were told 'they should be on their way but don't know when they will arrive'! Then, the lime and sodas we ordered were not stirred, and the cider did not come with ice.
The food was average, definitely not worth the money we paid, and when we asked for sauce we were given sauce packets just plonked onto the table instead of in a dish - I would not expect this if I'm paying £16 per meal!!
Additionally, a member of staff embarrassed my mum, saying that she 'inhailed her food' very loudly so that other guests could hear. In reality, her food arrived quicker than anyone elses and was going cold, so of course she would finish before us. This is also a reflection of the slow service.
Overall it was not worth...
