They changed owners and then started to change their menu a lot. This used to be our favorite place to go, but with all the changes the food quality and taste is different. They got rid of a lot of their gluten free options and didn’t update the menu so the first time I went after they changed owners (with no announcement) I ordered my usual (the gluten free cookie dough) and thankfully I happened to double check with the waitress who then informed me that the menus hadn’t been updated and although it was labeled gluten free, it was no longer gluten free. I went once or twice a week to get that dessert because it was the best in town, so it was disappointing they changed it but I still gave it a chance and went for my favorite breakfast. Over the next few times I went they slowly changed the breakfast - changing the bread, the seasoning, and taking off key elements of the dish that made it good. It tasted very bland after a few times of going so we stopped going for breakfast. They also made changes to the non gluten free items and even those my partner said tasted different and not as good as before. It’s really disappointing that they not only changed a lot of the gluten free options (no sandwiches are available anymore either and they kept some of the options but they aren’t gf anymore such as the cookie dough), but the overall quality and taste changed. After trying many times hoping it would change back to how it was, we’ve decided not to go anymore which is very sad since it was our favorite. My hope is they bring back some of...
Read moreAwful!!!! We ordered lunch last Sunday and my wife who doesn't eat meat asked for the Chorizo chips to be left off her meal and added to mine instead. When the food came I had no Chorizo chips and my wife had them on her food.
The young lady who served us was delightful and apologised profusely and organised a replacement meal. This duly arrived and the fish was hardly cooked and bloody. We raised this issue and after more apologies the food was taken away to be replaced. In the mean time I'd finished my meal and we waited patiently for the 2nd replacement dish for my wife.
By now my wife had lost interest and was very wary of what was in front of her and although picked at her food left the majority uneaten.
I asked to speak to the manager and he asked me to join him at the till to pay where he said that he would reduce our bill by 20%. No apology or and sign of remorse for the disappointing lunch. I protested and talked him through the series of events that resulted in me eating alone and my wife hardly eating at all and he then removed my wife's meal from the bill.
It's a nice place and the waitress was lovely. I can't say the same about our experience or the lacklustre management. They had an opportunity to put it right and deal with the situation properly but, chose the other option.
We used to visit the place twice a week when it was Café Rouge and I'm afraid after this experience we will...
Read moreI’ve put off reviewing this place since they opened because I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and get over teething issues. The decor is superb and really inviting, but unfortunately this is where the good bit stops. We’ve come on 4 separate occasions since they opened and each time we’ve had issues with food being sub par, cold or just plain not what was ordered. The beer selection is bizarre for a ‘community’ pub as they’re surrounded by some great local breweries and chose to serve commercial beers from all over the world. The staff are really inexperienced and frankly for the price you pay you’d expect they’d have better training. Ultimately none of this is surprising if you’ve ever walked in on a quieter evening. There tends to be a couple of the managers meandering around the entrance with not much awareness or interest in actually looking after you. Last time we came in we have a couple in-front of us who had booked but had to wait around just to be seen as no staff had any awareness that they were there and the manager just walked passed them without asking anything. We saw the red flags hadn’t been addressed...
