The Royal Dog & Duck — Restaurant in England

I find it really hard to put up a negative review more so after reading such glowing reviews. Thursday evening 5.10pm entered the Royal Dog & Duck went to the back bar ordered two drinks and asked for a menu.....from that point everything went south. We left this establishment at 6.55pm some one hour and fourty five minutes later just having 2 drinks one menu, 2 sets of cutlery, salt, pepper and plate mats paid in advance for the food that we ordered £24.70, the food that never actually arrived or even materialised. Their appeared to be no team work or communication between the bar staff, waiting staff and kitchen as the bar staff said the kitchen has nothing to o with us whilst the other bar staff member wandered about with his hands stitched to the inside of his jeans pockets. All in all probability the worst service we have ever experienced....ohhhh and we got our money back at the same time as 3 staff members apologised for their poor service...........no matter how busy you're communication between staff and customers should be your first priority.........if I could have given no stars I'd feel much better. -⭐️-⭐️-⭐️-⭐️-⭐️ so five minus stars are...

Came to the dog and duck while on a mini getaway at a local glamping site. We booked a table only 3 hours in advance so it was great to be able to get in so easily and is dog friendly so perfect for us! We were up in the bar area which was busy with locals but they were all friendly and it's nice to see a pub busy again! They could have done with a couple more members of staff on but the 3 younger adults did an amazing job on a night that I would have said was busy for a Friday nevermind a Wednesday! Slight downside was that you had to pay after each order rather than making a tab but places have rules like this for a reason! We both had the steak pie after reading other reviews and were not disappointed! I didn't finish mine (but still had space for pudding 😉) All in all, nice evening, would go back but will try another pub for or last night...

Arrived 19.55 kitchen closes 20.00 but they were happy to take 4 adult food orders service and food is outstanding here a great menu cosy relaxing and very clean dog friendly always a very warm welcome i eat here alot but this post is for my brother who was delighted they all had a lovely evening on Tuesday at such short notice so massive thank you to all staff family and local friends met again Wednesday lunchtime for drinks reunion after 50 years ! he will be eating here again this evening with his wife and myself family have visited and stayed in Flamborough for over 60 years caravanning lovely to all be together in this lovely pub mum and dad used to come here too its excellent...
