Would have loved to have been able to give a higher score based on: My husband ordered garlic mushrooms for a starter, he said they were fab. He then ordered the crown burger, this he said was delicious, the burger was cooked as requested well done. The fries were home made and delicious, he was disappointed with the factory bought slaw, the meal would have been spot on with a homemade slaw. All good so far But… I asked the waitress to give me a good 5 minutes heads up before my main meal was going to be served. I explained I’m a type 1 diabetic and it’s imperative my insulin is given approx 15 mins before my food. The friendly waitress said no problem. I then asked if the vegetable lasagne had mushrooms in it and was told NO. I detest mushrooms and cannot digest them. Firstly my food arrived at the table with no warning at all so I had to quickly inject myself at the table much to the curiosity of other diners. I then began to eat my meal to discover it was full of mushrooms. I had no choice now but to eat the food as I’ve now had my insulin. If the food had been returned to the kitchen this could have resulted in a very nasty hyper attack which may have needed hospital attention. Type 1 diabetes is a very serious auto immune condition that should be taken seriously by restaurants. When the waitress returned to clear the plates my husband told her the food was full of mushrooms and what if I had been allergic to them? She came back a few minutes later and apologised explaining the chef is new and he has changed the recipe without informing the staff, my husband explained how serious this could have been and advised any good chef should have made staff aware of any ingredient changes. The waitress did offer me a free drink which I declined. Would I return… my husband said he would like to book again to give you another chance.

Absolutely amazing little place, dog friendly in a beautiful place of out east coast. They've used every corner of the place they can to seat as many happy guests as possible. The staff were very friendly and helpful at all times throughout both our visits here. On Sunday me, my partner and my 3 children stopped by for some Sunday lunch, 4 of us had the roast dinner, 1 had beef lasagne. By far the best gravy I've had in an establishment that wasn't my own kitchen! I used to be a chef, so I am very cautious of certain things but this place pleased even me! 5 empty plates! On Tues, we called up to revisit, but they do not serve food on a Tuesday, booked immediately for Wednesday to save being disappointed. Wednesday we had an array of meals between us all, Gammon, beautifully cooked, steak & potato pie, a beef lasagne, a vegetable lasagne and to top it off a crown burger for my son, who was wished good luck as he was served it 😅 lovely touch guys. We will be back!

We have been in here so many times and never thought to review it. For us, it's the perfect village pub.... Want an amazing meal, they have you covered, want a quite drink after a long day of walking, they have you covered, want some love entertainment on a Saturday night, they have you covered. With a really lovely oldy worldy feel to the pub and such a lovely atmosphere from the staff and locals / regulars you could ask for any more from you local! This week just gone we were also lucky to drop on the open mic night (Sunday night) and it was an absolute treat to hear alot of the local talent come and show of their abilities, as well as a lovely crowd to support the gathering. UPDATE: We recently called in for Sunday lunch. I had the fish and chips, Mrs had the pie. It was amazing, such lovely friendly service, really well priced, very good portions and it was delicious too! Everyone should stop by!

On holiday and went there on the recommendation of a couple who were familiar with the area. They informed us it was a dog friendly establishment. Called for a drink the day before just to check it out. The landlord immediately made a fuss of our little Jack Russell. After reading the reviews we thought it would be a good idea to book a table for the following day rather than just turn up. The next day we were glad we had as every table was filled. We had a fantastic meal at a reasonable price (not as expensive as a lot of competitors). My Steak & Ale pie had a puff pastry top that didn't solidify after two minutes... indicating that it was actually homemade rather than a microwaved frozen dish (which is the fate of a lot of dishes in chain pubs). The melt in your mouth steak had been braised in a rich gravy, accompanied by hand cooked chips. My wife went for a Hunters type chicken dish, the chicken really tender and quite substantial. She was similarly impressed. But what about our Jack Russell? We had told the landlord the previous day that she was partial to a bit of cucumber rather than gravy bones as she had recently undergone a trip to the doggy dentist. Sure enough as our meal emerged from the kitchen it was acccompanied by a small tureen of finely chopped cucumber. Well recommended for diners with or without their...

Decided to go here for dinner as the reveiws are pretty good. Not sure where to start but here we go. We went in ordered some drinks and asked if they were still doing food (1900 hours) to which we were told yes but there is a bit of a wait. We said that would be fine got some menus and went to the beer garden where they said we would be fine to eat and some one would come and take our order. We then waited 15 mins before going to make sure they hadn't forgotten about us as no one had been to take the order yet. A couple of minutes later a waitress came out with an order pad and we thought great they are here to take our order. This wasn't the case she just told us that they were really busy and that she would be back to take our order as soon as she could and that they hadn't forgot about us. Nearly 45 minutes later and we had enough of waiting for our order to be taken and walked out. Now I understand they were busy I appreciate that but all told nearly an hour and not even our order was taken, I dont care how busy you are that is not...
