The Ship Inn — Restaurant in England

After a picnic on the beach today we were more than ready for what we thought would be a decent meal. Waitress was fantastic and totally used as a go between as THE CHEF/Landlady couldn’t even be bothered to leave the kitchen to come and speak with me. Steak was asked for med rare came out chewy beyond belief, our dog ate more than me and the worst part was my partner biting into his burger to find the plastic burger wrap still inside the burger after it had been cooked, nobody came to check our meal was satisfactory so I had to personally go to the kitchen door and bang on it to mention the plastic in the burger. The poor waitress had to then come to our table to say we could have a full refund but no offer of anything else, 5 mins later my partner found yet another piece of plastic in his burger. He had decided to carry on eating it as he was hungry and still no one had been to our table to check anything! Once the poor waitress finally emerged again she said there would be no refund as part of it had been eaten, so then I asked for the CHEF to come out and speak to me… Not that they did!! Ten mins later the waitress appeared with a refund in cash for the burger BUT NOTHING ELSE….Needless to say we will never go back nor advise anyone else to either. Some thing could have been sorted so simply absolutely disgusted with the back of house staff/ management making the front of house suffer for their own mistakes… Appauling behaviour. There was also a woman vaping in the restaurant as well and clearly...

My partner and I went in for a meal in here on are journey through Yorkshire we sat down in the restaurant area and the tables had filthy ground in dirt on them which I had to be asked to be cleaned, but after cleaning was still dirty. I was able to scratch it but they dont take much care in cleaning as the carpets were so bad I wiped my feet on the way out. The food was average and the drinks had a weird taste to them. We found the staff to be rude and ignorant and had no time to listen to what you were asking or telling them. I was shocked when I asked for the bill when they said I'm only able to pay with cash when I said earlier on that I would be paying with a card. I had to run all the way to the cash machine and back then when I gave her my money she slammed the change down on the table when my had was out waiting for the change. I will not be...

July and it's still shut. But the Dog and Duck's open again.

It’s March and the Ship’s still closed. Only one pub open in the village now. The Viking’s still going but it’s a bit further out.

The Ship gets good reviews for its food. I never got as far as having any food when I visited a couple weeks ago.

The barman/landlord, never found out which, was quite possibly the most miserable bloke I've met in the hospitality trade.

Along with the sticky tables and the empties around the bar it's not a tempting place.

Might try again, I mean, it can only get better. Or maybe one of the other local bars that are...
