The Tap House — Restaurant in England

We’ve mixed feelings about this place - we loved the first part of our evening but the second part was awful. We think we were just unlucky and would definitely try this place again when it’s quieter (and when seated at a table away from the bar).

What makes this place great: The food was honestly incredible and was probably the best meal we have had all year. We had the tacos and chocolate torte, and they were amazing. When we walked in we were greeted (possibly by the owner?) and when we left he went out of his way to say bye to us. The decor inside was great the cocktails were delicious

What ruined the experience: Unfortunately, it was an incredibly busy night and our server was a little inattentive as she was swept off her feet (we asked for some tap water twice - it never arrived) We were seated near the bar area when a crowd (20 people) came in and literally surrounded our table. We ate our dessert whilst getting elbowed and with people shouting down our ear. Two people queuing for the bar were even circling our table at one point to get a friends’ attention. Our review would have been 5 stars had this not happened, or if the server had handled it better. We mentioned it to the server when leaving and she just said “oh yeah, it’s someone’s birthday”.

Some feedback for the restaurant: It might be worth moving the table nearest the bar, or if something like this happens in future, perhaps offer to take drink orders from the table or offer to move anyone who is...

Wow! Just wow! After staying in st Agnes for 4 days and seeing how busy this place was every evening, we just had to try it…. And we were not disappointed! The excellent service, started from the moment we arrived. Very attentive and friendly staff who were able to help us despite being fully booked and we hadn’t made a reservation. After 10 minutes waiting we got one of the best tables. The atmosphere was amazing, with music playing in the background, fab interior making it feel like we were not in Cornwall! We tried 3 different cocktails all of which were unique in their own way and equally delicious. We started with unreal chicken wings which my partner said were the best he’s ever had. We then had 3 pork tacos, and a tappy burger, both which were delicious and full of flavour! We wished we lived closer as this place is so special. We would massively recommend to anyone! The one key piece of advice we would give is to ensure that you book as this place is (rightfully so) very popular. If you don’t it is first come first serve for the seating...

We are down in Cornwall for 4 days and last minute decided to try and grab a table here for food. I am so glad we did! We were lucky that they had one outside for the 5 of us as it was very busy on a Tuesday night- not surprising really as the food is absolutely delicious!! We had our 3 children with us and they all insisted I write a Google review because they said its the best food they've ever had (and they enjoy good food!). We had a mix of pork tacos, coconut curry, and a poke bowl. We all agree we could eat it all again! We just about had room for dessert and that was just as incredible as the mains! Everything was very well presented and beautifully colourful ❤️. Due to how busy they were we were told an hour wait but it definitely wasn't that long and we were seen to with drinks whilst waiting- which were also delicious!!
