My family were treated appalingly in this pub. One of the bar staff even quoted "we've been told to keep an eye on you" all because I tried to order my 17 year old son a pint. I agree with the challenge 25 rule but don't then have all your staff watch us every time we ordered a drink. We also ordered food so in the eyes of the law no rules were broken, regardless of Greene Kings own rule - this cannot supercede legal law. My older 21 year old son (and yes he got ID too and his girlfriend) used the gambler whilst his 9 year old brother watched. The 9 year old was told to move by a member of staff. I'd like to note that he had been told not to touch by us. If there was an issue then come and talk to us as his parents, not shout at him and make him cry. Our original plans for the evening had had to be cancelled but we were staying at the hotel so decided to give the pub our custom. To be watched and made to feel uncomfortable was not a nice experience. Thank you to Sophie the Manager for being the only one to show any humanity and understand why we were upset. Needless to say we didn't attend for breakfast in the morning, we found somewhere else that had friendly staff and made us feel welcome.

This morning (24th Feb) my girlfriend and I came here for breakfast; it's a lovely building inside and we were the only two here. We ordered children's breakfasts on the app because we have small apetities, then I went up to the bar and ordered a Regular Latte. The old lady behind the bar made the Latte and charged me for a large. I queried this and she responded "its one button on the machine" and that they do no sell Small/Singles/Regular drinks whatsoever (it's on the menu) Not the end of the world. Our food came over and the plates had Mushrooms on it. I am deathly allergic to Mushrooms and they were not stated on the food. Again, I explained my concerns and old lady had nothing to say for it. Not a big deal, I took them off my plate and risked death. The cutterly had little bits of food on it (Picture of one of the forks attached), let's just hope the previous user didn't have Covid. I tucked into what can only be described as cardboard and that's when I stabbed my knife into my egg to be squirted by the juice of hidden Mushrooms under my favourite peice of the meal. Let me just say that I was not impressed. This was out first experience here and most likely our last.

The decor and layout is very modern but keeping with the buildings wooden exterior. Its very spacious with great seating areas. I have been here before for a 50th birthday party and we were given a private room with long tables. Last night we were given a huge round table for 7 of us located in a corner of the room under some stairs and near the bar. The night of the 50th the food and service was excellent however last night the food was excellent but the speed it was served at was poor in my opinion. It was later explained that there had been trouble at the bar with some locals and because waiting staff had to deal with this it caused a back log on orders, our server George was professional, humorous and kind when dealing with our orders, explaining about problems and I would highly recommend anyone going to the waterside aak for George as their waiter. My starters and mains were superb very tasty and the quantity was just right. I will be going to the waterside again in the near future for another family meal or for a 1 on 1 or double date, I would class this establishment as a perfect place for that.

Waterside had been recommended to us. I went on there website after i kept getting no answer on the phone to book the day before when placing the booking in the requests section i asked if we could be seated on a table with comfortable built in booth seating so i did not have to sit in my wheelchair or if not on a table with plenty of space that was easy for electric wheelchair to fit under but still leaving plenty of room for others it is obvious that this was never looked at because we were seated on a table for 6 that curved at the edged with table legs at both sides & an adjoining bar can you guess how many chairs were at this table 6. We had to move 1 & spend the 5 minutes rearranging everyone so i could fit under. All the while looking at the fact they had fixed booth seating they just had not been bothered to allocate one to us meaning i was going to the entire meal uncomfortable. It took at least 10 minutes for us to be asked if a drinks order had been taken it had not(The pub was only half full) we ordered drinks when they came an order was taken it took quite a while for food to arrive however this is because everything is made fresh with care so you don't mind waiting a while if the is hot fresh good quality & tasty which it was we had small issues there was too much fat/gristle on the sirloin stake the same with the gammon which comes with a wedge of real pineapple with skin on inc leaves this looks lovely but is very difficult to actually get the pineapple out of because of its shape & size on an already full plate this is something that others have said too. The choice of vegetable is not great & nowhere does it state what is available so you have to ask & you get a new waitress meaning repeated trips to the kitchen to end up with garden peas. We placed a second drinks order when the food arrived i ordered blueberry & blackberry mixed juice because it has no added sugar & because I'm diabetic was the best choice for me as i dont drink water only to be told 5 minutes later that they didnt have any so no more drink for me. Our plates got cleared & after 10 minutes we had to ask to see a desert menu another 10 minutes before our order was taken then 35minutes until we recieved the 4 deserts which is way too long for anyone but when you are sat in agony 35minutes feels like hours our plates got cleared after 5 minutes we had to ask for the bill then anithe 5 for the card machine i could understand if they were full but were only half at the most. The food is really top quality fresh & tasty however the customer service needs work across the board dont get ne wrong the staff are polite friendly & nice but there certainly is no urgency in anything they do when you are waiting 35 mins for dessert & you see multiple staff stood around just talking to each other for 5 minutes. We wouldn't rule out dinning here again but would definitely not do it when you were in a rush allocate a lot more time than you think...

The worst level of service a food I've had in 10 years from a pub or restaurant. I ordered the steak burger and paid to double up, so the burger effectively doubles in size. Well after 40 odd minutes the food eventually came and I have never seen burgers so small in all my life. They covered about 40% of the bun. Its worth noting this is a 17 quid burger. I spoke to the waitress expressing my disappointment and she offered to take it back to the kitchen. 5 minutes followed at which point a manger came out and said, "I'm not sure what you expect me to do, these are the burgers we were delivered. We know there tiny but even if I change it the next one will be tiny as well" so I asked if I could change my order, she said yes so I got the roast beef. After another 10 minutes the roast came. This had 1 roast potatoes, yes you read that correct one roast potatoes. The peas were rock hard, the meat was pure grisle. I contacted the waitress who huffed and puffed and pulled the most miserable look imaginable. I asked as the roast cost considerably less than the burger, instead of getting a refund on the difference could my daughter just get an ice cream, she huffed at this request and said she would see. 15 minutes past, where she walked past us 5 tines, served 3 meals and totally ignored us. So we walked out. WITHOUT ANY KIND OF REFUND ON THE DIFFERENCE. I can honestly say we eat out regularly and use this chain a lot, but this place was the worst I've experienced in a good 10 years. AVOID...

Arrived with my friend for a catch up and some tea. When arriving we was given a table and asked what we would like the guy took our order and my usual order is the grilled chicken burger with spicy mayo. However the guy said to me we cannot do that as it’s not gluten free I said it is gf as I’m a regular and always order this when we come to your pub of the NGC menu. Anyway he walked away put the order through the till which left us very confused on what was happening.

Our starters came really cold which was saddening and then our mains come and the gluten free order was not what we ordered at all. I did make them aware however they just said oh I’m sorry and that was it. The gf burger bun was so dry it was inedible so I had to leave that and then the chicken was very gooey and awful which led me to not even eat the meal.

Myself and my friend went outside for some fresh air which we did let the lady on the till aware of which she said was fine and there was an elderly blonde lady employee who seen us walk to the smoking area and gave us a very awful funny look. I’m assuming this is because we went to head to the smoking area and hadn’t paid but as stated we did inform them we will be back in as we was outside getting fresh air.

We love coming to the waterside but this time around I was very saddened with the quality of food and customer service was diabolical. Never had this bad of an experience with...
