I ordered food and drinks for my partner and myself through the app choosing my table number (51) the food arrived after about 20 minutes but with no drinks. I politely asked the nearest member of staff and was told they should be with us soon. After eating half of our meal I asked a different member of staff who said to me 'they will be late you ordered them to the wrong table' I said how do you mean and quite aggressively she said well you ordered them to table 53 instead of 51. I said that I ordered them together with the food to table 51 and we received the meal to table 51 so how could I order them to the wrong table with that she just glared at me and walked off. About five minutes later she appeared to our table with our drinks and I asked her what she meant earlier and she said again I'd ordered them to the wrong table so I said could you explain please she said the bar and the food service part are separate and I said I'm just a customer I don't know how it works I just ordered the food and drinks to my table and she just walked off. She was horrible I'm not usually one to complain but it really put a downer on our meal we don't get out very often and when we do we usually use this pub as it's nice and convenient but I've been ill lately and unable to use it so this was a treat or at least was supposed to be. After checking my email I got a receipt and obviously all the food and the drinks were to table 51 so no matter what she said she was completely wrong and we never even received an apology just an absolutely filthy look. I think this woman usually works behind the bar and was asked to come and help in the restaurant part and didn't like it. As I say we've always frequented wetherspoon and I think this was the last time. This really ruined our evening , I started out in the catering industry myself and as far as I was always told the customer is always right and always treat them with respect and always apologize even if it's not your fault. I hope that this woman was just having a bad day and doesn't treat all her customers like this , I was going to hang on and ask to speak to a manager but the place was busy and I just didn't want the fuss it's easier just to put it down to a bad experience and probably never go...
Read moreI had the pleasure of enjoying a large breakfast at the White Horse this morning. In my opinion it was good value and I was favourably impressed by the changes to the White Horse that I ad previously known BUT the whole experience was ruined by the following issues which I believe will improve the already excellent experience even more for any disabled visitors who may call: I note that I have serious mobility problems but am not a wheelchair user. I trust that you will be impressed of the value of making the changes needed to enhance your already high reputation with your regular customers to the extent that you will ensure that all Wetherspoons premises comply with the changes;
Food was really nice (thank you) but the Covid19 measures are daft and end up making the place riskier than it would be without measures in place, which defies the point. (Part government to blame but part not!) We were asked if we had the app to order - no - as my phone is too old (and neither did every person (but one) that walked in as I counted (sad!) In fact three couples walked out due to dissatisfaction with the rules.
Because of not having the app we were told we had to have table service inside, in a designated area. It was a nice day and we really wanted to eat outside but couldn't. So, we went to the designated area inside, to find it was much busier than everywhere else and right where staff were going in an out of a door marked 'private' - without wearing masks might I add.
The whole point of table service is to try to reduce Covid spread by stopping people meandering about close to each other. It is not to sit everyone together so that pubs can employ less staff and put customers at higher risk.
Why not introduce a designated phone line so people can ring from their tables to order from the bar with the cheapest of phones and not just rely on technology that isn't affordable or accessible to everyone. Some of the people who left were elderly and just wanted to come in for a coffee !!
Shame - people and food nice but...
