We really love Lascito, we have been around 5 times now since it opened and have always had consistently great food, great service and a pleasant modern and clean dining experience. I am particularly hard to please as I like clean fresh food, which is rarely cooked in restaurants today, and we have several food allergies which makes eating out really difficult for us. We love Lascito because they remember our allergies, can handle these very well, still have loads of good choice, the quality of our meals is not compromised due to the allergies and really importantly this doesn't feel like a problem for Lascito whereas many other restaurants just want to deal with the masses and make us feel 'difficult' for wanting gluten and dairy free food which they then struggle to cater for. The food is fresh and home cooked. My husband likes the fillet steak which has not disappointed yet, and really rarely, they even serve him gravy, sounds odd thing to say, but with gluten intolerance, we don't remember anywhere else that will do gluten free gravy which is a testament as to this being real food and not processed rubbish. We love it, can highly recommend for anyone, and particularly those with gluten and dairy intolerance. We rarely eat out now as not many places are good for this, e.g. comparing to The White Swan in Scotter which we tried recently, there's no comparison, the food at The White Swan was terrible quality and much more expensive, we did not enjoy that and won't be going back. Lascito however is great, you can even book online at short notice with no fuss. Keep up the great hospitality and food Lascito and thank you for...
Read moreWe visited on opening night; which in hindsight was probably a mistake - but we were excited to try out the new Italian restaurant.
We got off to a good start and shown to our table immediately and drinks orders taken and received quickly.
To start we ordered a garlic bread to share, in the time it took to arrive the couple either side of us had eaten their starters and mains and left. When it did arrive I was very underwhelmed it tasted nice but was the size of a side plate, at almost £8 I expected it to be around 10 or 12 inches (no indication of size on the menu).
For our main course we ordered the Valdarno Chicken (£19.95) and Roasted Salmon with Sweet Chilli (£21.95). This arrived as we were just about to give up on our food order and head home. Temperature of the dishes were lukewarm so I'm not sure if they had been waiting in the kitchen for a while. By this point we were that hungry that neither of us wanted to send anything back. Unfortunately whilst they were tasty, we had been waiting that long that neither us particularly enjoyed our meals. We didn't have a dessert as by the time we had finished our mains we just wanted to get home.
Hopefully these were just teething problems, e.g. staff not checking on us/letting us know about the delays without us having to ask. When we went to pay as we were leaving they did let us have the meals on the house, so I cannot fault them there.
We will give the restaurant another chance in the future, but I feel for the prices in the area service and food has...
Read moreUnlike some other reviewers, we thought the food was delicious & reasonably priced for the type of food & venue. Also, the atmosphere/ ambience is what you make of it, and we had a great night. We went as a group for our first time there, and found it to be a well designed, attractive venue, with areas definitely aimed at the Insta generation, but not too much to be off putting to slightly more mature diners. All of the staff were very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The food was absolutely delicious. As a group, we tried the following starters & and mains: Crostini Deri Duck Liver Pate Arancini Kick Creamy Garlic Mushrooms Muscles & Clams Tomato Garlic Bread Wild Mushroom Risotto Chicken Carbonara Pan Fried Seabass Steak Pizza Alla Ronaldos (mine & superb) And a bespoke vegan dish. Every single one was full of flavour & we would happily have it again. The only disappointments of the evening were the number of items on the menu already sold out and the time taken to receive our starter's, which was well over an hour from being seated. However, we will go again - there are lots of other dishes we would like to try, and we just hope the kitchen can speed up slightly to find the balance between not starving...
