Our Sanctuaries Christmas Lunch unfortunately did not go off without a hitch.
There was an admirable attempt by the serving staff to affect a swanlike gliding effect throughout the whole event.
If only the catering team had been read in to the plan. Burnt veg. Missing portions. Beef gravy supplied with traditional 🦃 turkey lunches were a few of the initial concerns.
The servers maintained an apologetic but undeniably calm countenance throughout. However even they somewhat lost the plot during sweets section, some clot in the kitchen managed to burn the white brandy sauce but decided to spoon half a ladleful over delicious Christmas Pudding and hence ruined it for most.. (Although I bravely ate mine, whilst truly disgusting! I can honestly & heartily recommend NOT tasting caramelised brandy white sauce.!!).
I felt for the waitresses who were by now trying to put a brave face on this production.. i.e. 'The Crew Of The Titanic Cooks Christmas Lunch...!!'
Those clowns also managed to serve a salty complimentary coffee latte to one upset lady in our group she said it tasted like they had left dishwasher soda in the cup.!!
It is a real shame as the function room is really nicely, if somewhat cheaply dressed to reflect the Christmas Season.. The ambience was relatively calming but somewhat ruined when the piped music sticks and continues to sound like something that sets your teeth on edge for what seemed like an eternity until your Auntie Susan asked them to please...
Read moreGoogled nearest eatery and this place came up. Didn't look much from outside but once inside we were plesently surprised how nice it looked. We ordered bar food , took made our orders and got a drink .seated ourselves inside . Time passed and our food still hadn't arrived. My partner went to ask after 40minutes . When the food arrived the young lady was very apologetic over the wait . She put the plates down and hurried off.. We weren't surprised because the food was terrible. Burnt rolls and the chicken fillet was rock hard, pieces just crumbled . We called the waitress and showed her , again she was very apologetic and asked if there was anything else she could get us. It was late now so we said we'd just take our money back . Poor delivery and Absolutely no excuse for sending that out . We told our holiday host who was very interested as it turn out they are a food critic for...
Read moreI have tried the White Horse Inn in Launceston for the first time today as it is my local. First impressions were good as I was greeted warmly by the young lady behind the bar. I looked through the menu and selected a White Horse Burger & a gill of St Austell Ales "Tribute" from the menu. I have included images to prove this was a meal fit for Desperate Dan himself, twas cooked to perfection.. It had a Cornish Beef Burger topped with back bacon rashers, local cheeses & pulled pork which was accompanied with a tasty homemade sauce, I was additionally given a choice of French Fries or Chunky Chips, I chose the latter and there was also a piquant flavoured freshly prepared side salad. This I enjoyed immensely and would not hesitate to recommend "The White Horse Inn" to you all as a result. I will certainly be returning here and will keep you all updated on the service...
