We stopped here about 2pm as "walk in customers " for Sunday lunch en route from Kent home to Midlands via M40 to break our journey, after all the congestion on M25 We were greeted friendily by our waiter Manu who was very polite attentive and helpful. He kept us updated on progress with preparing our food. The atmosphere in the place was very welcoming clean and tidy, They clearly welcome families and young children as we saw severalvchild seats/high chairs and games, puzzles etc to keep them amused. Food was not cheap, but was fabulous very well presented, and cooked perfectly. I had belly pork roast and my partner had the roast beef, we had a glass of house rose(also not cheap) and with the small deserts and coffees and tip it came to over £88 for two. (With no starters or sides.) The toilets were upstairs and well kept and clean, although the flush was too slow re-filling in the gents. . Thoroughly recommended, and it was expensive but worth it to not dine in a chain establishment.
2nd Visit
We loved it so much we booked a table in February on our way back from Kent. We were not disappointed, the service was excellent, attentive but not intrusive, the food fabulous: we shared a baked Camembert starter, then both had the roast beef, and finished with mini sticky toffee pudding with...
Read moreWe visited on a Saturday late lunchtime. Good choice of dishes on the menu. And a nice choice of ales for the hubby which he thoroughly enjoyed. Lovely atmosphere and decor, friendly staff and very good C-19 measures which they have worked hard to get right. We ordered king prawns and halloumi fries for starters. Prawns were excellent, fries a bit underwhelming. Mains were ribeye steak and duck breast. Both were presented well with nice accompaniments, but both the beef and the duck had little flavour. The duck was also overcooked and served upside down (skin side down, soggy in gravy) in two, 2cm thick slices. We had to have a word about the duck as it was left half eaten, and the courteous and friendly manager took it off the bill. Puds were good; a superb brownie and a passable sticky toffee pudding. We've eaten in this chain of pubs before and had better food, with a more home-cooked feel. The White Horse has so much going for it and a good position in Beaconsfield. It would be an outstanding pub if the kitchen could raise its...
Read moreThis pub used to be Loch Fyne and has now been bought and refurbished by a small gastro pub chain. We were invited to the opening night for local residents the other day and I have to say we were very impressed. The refurbishment has been to a very high standard and the staff seemed very competent and friendly. We appreciated the little touches like spare reading glasses for the patrons and pub games (including an etch a sketch) for the kids. Our border terrier was made very welcome with a bowl of water, lots of attention and some free doggy snacks. All in all a very pleasant experience and a very welcome addition to the town.
Edit. I've had to knock a couple of stars off my original review. Have now had two roast dinners here and in both the roast potatoes looked shrunken, and tasted reheated. We have also been turned away after 5pm for having a child with us, which in a family friendly area such Beaconsfield is a major mistake in my opinion. Such a shame but other pubs in the near vicinity are a lot...
