Me and my lovely friend Emily popped in here today. Mainly as we love supporting local businesses. I asked for 2 cakes and a pot of tea to share … being a very friendly person myself and asking politely and with a smile, I was shocked at the reception from the dark haired lady that served us. Really really rude … my friend instantly asked me if she was ok, had I said anything in a negative tone. When I made my way upstairs I was met with the comment “excuse me it’s very busy up there” I had already checked seating prior to ordering. I asked if there was sugar available and was told again bluntly … yes of course there is sugar on the tables. There was 1 pot upstairs, when there was about 5/6 tables The lovely cakes and tea came … the mugs were dirty. If I ran a finger over them, they smudged. My friend very nicely asked if she could have a fresh mug abs the dark haired lady said “well it’s old china that’s the way it is” I can share a video of how dirty they were, it was not the fact they are old china. She took 1 away and came back even frostier than she already was. It looked no better and had just been rinsed with water, dripping wet. Then she Dropped the mug as it went towards the table and didn’t at any point say sorry about that (the mug being dirty or dropping the mug) … accidents happen, that’s totally fine we are not that lucky but after already feeling so uncomfortable it was just shocking to witness
Tables where littered with dirty plates mugs etc Even when the cakes came up there was a fork with each one, and I had already got a fork as I have done in other establishments (they where clearly placed in a unit by the till) she said “I need them back”
Just over all a very awkward experience for god knows what reason. Funny as we popped to another shop and I had said I’m a bit baffled by the reception next door. The person I spoke to said “was it the dark haired lady” … this speaks volumes in my opinion.
Also lastly, my friend’s father owns a very popular cafe himself and she has worked in hospitality for 20+ years along side him. So I think her reservations about the mugs where more...

Read moreI absolutely love this place! If you're looking for a cozy spot that feels like home, Trays is the perfect choice. The café offers delicious home-cooked food that hits the spot every time. The staff are incredibly friendly, always greeting you with a warm smile and making you feel like a part of the family. Whilst I was there yesterday the kind waitress (with the dark hair- sorry I didn’t catch your name!) turned down the music as my dad was having trouble with his hearing aids. It’s these acts of kindness and the thoughtful, friendly attitude of all the staff which makes this the best cafe around. There's a genuine community vibe here, whether you're a regular or visiting for the first time. Trays is more than just a café; it's a welcoming place where good food and good company come together. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a friendly atmosphere and comforting, homemade dishes…..and don’t forget to bring your dog as furry friends are also...
