I have visited five times all of which have had there issues. The first time it took over 30 minutes to get our food - not a problem in particular for me as I was not in a rush, but whilst waiting I saw that some other customers were not treated in a particularly good fashion. Someone who had specifically reserved a table was shown to the worst, most cramped table in the house despite others being open! An elderly patron was left to fend for herself although she clearly wished to receive a menu and have guidance as to ordering. The second time was for a take away coffee. All I can say is that the staff were not friendly in any way and served someone who came in later than several of us in line. The third time was for a sit in scone, cake and coffee. This went ok, but the baked goods were not tasty and once again the service was not friendly. When I asked for water I was directed to get it from a terracotta vase. Matching terracotta cups were provided to the side. It is a visually cute idea, but the items were not clean. The fourth time was with my mom. We got cakes and coffees and when she asked what one of the unlabeled cakes was, the server was downright rude and seemed like answering was beneath her. When we tried to carry our tray to the courtyard, for some reason the staff were very sharp and said we could not, it would be brought. Ok. When the tray was brought out, the server was put out that we had taken forks and napkins already. Finally, on my fifth and last attempt to enjoy Elaines despite two staff members standing behind the counter, I was completely ignored. I walked out the door and its the last time I'll be using it. I dont have a problem with the place in principle, but the service has proven itself to be consistently poor, unhelpful, and actually slightly...
Read moreWe've been here before and had a fairly decent experience, which is why we came back today. The food is rather expensive and the portions are of what I would consider a medium size. There are a couple of nice vegan options, which is lovely.
Today, however, when I went to order, I had a most surreal experience. I stood in the queue like everyone else, and when I got to the front, the woman operating the checkout leaned around me to take the order of the man behind me. He ordered (I believe) two flat whites and there was some difficulty with paying while I checked that I was still visible. After he left, I stepped forward again to place my order only for her to lean around me again to take the order of the third person in the queue. When that person had ordered and everyone in the queue apart from me had been served, she turned around and started wiping down surfaces and shuffling cups around. It was only when another member of staff clocked my puzzled expression and asked if I had been served that my mind was put to rest and I was reassured that this wasn't some kind of out-of-body experience.
I don't know if I've done anything to upset you, in which case I am very sorry and hope I can make it up for you in some way, but I have to say that it was one of the stranger experiences I've had in cafes and did rather taint my experience of the otherwise...

During my recent visit, I had the pleasure of trying the chicken medley and the eggs Benedict. The chicken medley was a harmonious blend of flavors, with tender, juicy pieces of chicken complemented by a medley of fresh, vibrant vegetables. Each bite was a testament to the chef’s dedication to quality and taste.
The eggs Benedict was equally impressive. The poached eggs were perfectly cooked, with yolks that oozed delightfully over the succulent chicken and toasted English muffin. The hollandaise sauce was rich and creamy, tying the dish together beautifully.
