Brilliant attentitive staff and Service, Great Ambience and Awesome Food! To experience it all under one roof, it truely is amazing. The decor, lighting, location and all the above mentioned play a pivotol role when visiting any establishment so when a new Business ticks all those boxes it's worthy of all the appraisal I'm about to give them.
I visited Tubo on 2 consecutive days with different groups of friends. Tubo (Italian for Pipe) has a greek themed menu. On my first visit I had the Lamb Chops which were tender, succulent, full of flavour and portioned generously. They come with a side of homemade chips which accompany the Chops perfectly. For drinks I ordered one of the best Piña Colada's i have tried in a while both creamy and fresh! After the meals we ordered a range of desserts to share and try out. Choc Brownie, Milk Cake (Tres Leches) and the dessert of the day which was a masterpiece 'Deconstructed Apple Pie' (see pics) and ended it all with a smooth smoking Straight Mint Shisha👌🏼 all the shisha's are premium Savacco flavours Pots and Pipes. They also stock the usual brands like AlFakher etc.
My second Visit we ordered a Lamb Liver starter, topped with feta cheese, tomatoes and herbs and served with nan bread. I love liver and was not disappointed with this dish. My mains i ordered the 'Chicken Suvlaki' again a unsparing portion sided with those lovely handcut chips. The chicken is served on a skewer (straight of the grill) soft and oozing with flavour. For drinks i opted for a Espresso Martini (i ordered the Vanilla flavour) if you love your coffee this is a great concoction to try. After the meal we had a round of Karak Chai's (which was a lot better than what most Shisha establishments serve i must say!) I also had an Irish Coffee (🤷🏻♂️ I'm a coffee guy and it was after desserts) creamy and flavourful, a decadent finale to the meal.
Shisha on the day we ordered 2 pots, Black Mamba with Purple Rain and G6 on the rocks with Purple Rain both were extremely nice and smooth my fav was the Black Mamba👍🏼
For dessert we ordered to share, Tres Leches which is a sponge cake doused in sweet creamy milkiness and the dessert of the the day 'deconstructed banoffee pie' sprinkled with Crushed Cashew Nuts🤤. On both days the dessert of the day was outstanding.
In the beginning of my review I mentioned Tubo has everything under one roof, you now know why. Food, drinks, dessert and shisha, when you throw in all the quality, service and ambience there is no other reason but to give Tubo 5 stars and vote it Best Shisha Place in Leicester. If i had my way I'd be there everynight. Let's hope they can keep up their standards (which i'm sure they will do)....
Read moreDon’t usually write reviews but felt like I had to in this case. I came to Leicester a couple of nights ago to visit some friends on a casual day out, they recommended Tubo and I was extremely excited to go as their recommendations had never let me down before.
Initial impressions: decent decor and good ambience. It wasn’t very busy, which I like (I would soon come to find out why it was so quiet).
Young lady approached us and asked if we would like to order anything to start. I decided to order the “Passion Lover”. After a few minutes the waitress came back and asked me to confirm, that’s fine, you can mishear and I’d rather get a confirmation than get the wrong drink.
The drink came around 20 minutes later, during which time no one had asked us if we wanted anything else, or if we were ready for shisha which we had been for the 15 minutes prior. The drink was awful, there wasn’t a hint of passionfruit and it tasted like it was watered down completely.
I sent it back and asked to have it remade to which I heard a member of staff say “he’ll just get the same thing and be fine with it”. I decided not to bring this up, I didn’t feel like ruining what had been an overall decent day in Leicester.
Another 10 minutes later we were finally asked about shisha. A young man pressured us into getting their “higher end” shisha, and we relented and ordered 2 pipes. I asked about my drink and he said he’ll go and check. About 15 minutes later we finally have our shisha (still no Passion Lover to be seen).
The shisha was extremely poor, firstly the person holding the coals was extremely clumsy, again I can forgive a mistake but not at the cost of potentially burning my clothes, and the shisha hadn’t been set up correctly, meaning my friends and I spent the best part of 5 minutes trying to get it start smoking.
For about 10 minutes the shisha was pleasant. After that there was no flavour left. We also waited ages for somebody to come round and take a look, maybe it was a coal issue? But we’d never know as we decided to leave. I still hadn’t gotten my drink, and upon going to pay, and stating I had sent it back, I was still made to pay for the drink…not sure why? I’m quite non confrontational so decided to pay for it anyway after a back and forth with an uninterested waitress.
For anyone looking to come here, I’d probably decide against it, the service was clearly below par, as was the shisha which is the main point of a lounge. Not to mention staff making snide remarks about their low quality service and laughing it off. Professionalism and...
Read moreI visited here yesterday after hearing a lot about this place and the hype surrounding it. After reading so many reviews, I decided to pay a visit. When I arrived, it wasn’t particularly busy as it was around 5pm and it had just opened.
We decided to order some dishes that were recommended by others on these reviews. The dishes we ordered, we shared as we weren’t particularly hungry. The lamb chops were ok although they were slightly over cooked and the chicken yakitori was ok too. However, the popcorn chicken was probably the worst I’ve ever tasted. Not only were they burnt, they were crunchy and soaked in oil from when they were cooked. They did not taste fresh at all.
Moving onto the drinks, the mocktails were nothing special. I ordered the passionfruit mocktail. There was not a passionfruit in sight as I have experienced previously when I order a passionfruit mocktail and it just tasted like Rubicon Passionfruit from a can.
As for the service, this was incredibly poor. The staff were inattentive and I had to frequently stand up to grab their attention. They all seemed to be huddled around one table chatting away like they had no customers.
The evening was spoilt as the waitress who cleared the table, ended up spilling some food onto my lap which I was not too pleased about.
For what was essentially finger food for 4 people, the bill came to £130 was absolutely ridiculous and definitely not worth it. Food here is definitely overpriced and extortionate for what it is.
The shisha was ok, not the best I have had, but still somewhat pleasant hence the 2 stars.
I probably wouldn’t visit again as there are plenty of much nicer establishments to visit which are much more reasonably priced and provide better food and a...
