West Bay Tea Rooms — Restaurant in England

We have been going to west bay tea rooms for over 5 years and have had some great times. However this last one was a bad experience. First of all there were no seats available which is totally understandable but when you see the owner sat down in the corner whilst we queue is not a great start. We were then lucky to get a seat. No one cleared the table so we did it for them. We then waited to be served and waited and waited. After 10 minutes we were pretty much fed up. Especially when the owner got a cup of coffee whilst we waited patiently. After 15 minutes of being ignored we left. We are now sat in the watch house café around the corner being served. Such a shame west bay tea rooms have gone downhill as we really enjoyed going there. But obviously they are not that bothered about...

Called in for cup of tea then saw the scones. Ordered 1 cream tea and extra tea for my husband as I knew I wouldn't be able to eat both of them that came with cream tea. Service was excellent as was the scones. Tables spaced out and gell and track and trace in doorway on a table. The scones were delicious with plenty of jam and cream, we even got a top up of hot water, all this for very good price. This place obviously has regulars coming here and I am not surprised. While we were there 2 separate sets of couples came in for their pre-booked afternoon tea and I must say they looked amazing, if we hadn't eaten earlier we would certainly have given one a try. My friend and I called in for a morning coffee and were so impressed that we decided to come back and have lunch later on. This we did but we were both less than impressed by the obvious impatience and annoyance we patently caused the chap who served us. He didn't actually say anything wrong but we could see we had tried his patience sorely. The cafe was busy but we do feel that his reaction to us was without justification. If he cannot cope with the increase in custom that the season brings we feel that he is in the wrong job. We are locals who would use this cafe on a regular basis as West Bay is a favourite place for us the year round. We have always gone to another cafe on the other side of the harbour before and probably will carry on...
