I’ve been to rise a number of times, the last however left me underwhelmed. Positives ; *fab and funky looking place brings some vitality and change from more staid establishments in west bay. the menu has fish and selfish but also burgers, curry’s, rice bowls and other items for those not so fond of seaside fayre. Food is tasty (mostly see below) and prepared and presented with attention and care. staff are polite and efficient. *out of the ordinary and enchanting location. Looks particularly attractive at night with the string lights.

Negatives;- I don’t know if the last time we visited they were short staffed but the waitress seemed to be easily confused and quite forgetful. After one of our party waited for her drink (as part of a burger and drink combo) for about twenty minutes I went to the bar to find it. Only to find our waitress and (I’m guessing) the shift manager laughing and chatting as I approached, when I enquired after the drink I was pointed to where it sat on the bar…lonely and waiting. Rather than letting my friend wait further I was allowed and encouraged to take the pint to my friend myself, disappointing as we were there in a mid week evening out of season, you can’t understand delays and issues if places are heaving. I hope they are able to become more pro by the summer. We were also charged for the drink and had to sort out which one we got free as part of the promotion. The food was below par to previous visits and didn’t merit the higher than normal prices. Prices you’re happy to pay if food is good and the above staffing issues aren’t having to be sat through. I had the squid to start and it was on the rubbery side, my friend who also had ordered the squid to start had the same problem. Then I had the chowder to follow which was tasty but on the verge of being too salty to consume, bearing in mind I like my food salty I don’t know if someone else would have been able to eat it. small pudding, I don’t mind small pudding but when your paying £9 just a bit more for your buck would be appreciated. I forgot to take a photo but the slither couldn’t have been little more than inch wide at its widest point.

It’s a shame as I have enjoyed my dining experiences at rise before the last visit, however next time I’m down I might try somewhere else to...

Came here a couple of weeks ago, 8 of us at the table. Was sat near the window underneath the bar area? We was splashed with water throughout our whole meal from behind the wine racks. The waitress came over and took our drinks orders, one of us on the table asked for a non alcoholic drink and the rest ordered wine or cocktails. About 5 minutes later a single drink was brought to our table, about 3/4 full no ice with a straw. This was handed to the person who asked for a soft drink. She took a sip and instantly tasted alcohol. We asked the waitress if it was the wrong drink and she told us it definitely did not have alcohol in even though we could all taste it. She said the drinks with alcohol come in different glasses to soft drinks. A couple minutes later our cocktails come… in the same glass as this mystery drink. As well as the cocktails on the tray was another soft drink, what was originally ordered…a Diet Coke with lemon slice and ice. So we was clearly delivered someone’s left over iced down alcoholic cola!! Which is very gross. The restaurant it’s self was lovely and it’s ashamed as it does clearly have a alot of potential. The staff just need alot more training. I probably won’t be returning...

Terrible experience. Have been here twice before as the location is perfect, the building is in such a great spot and love the bridge to get to it. The interior is gorgeous, lovely furniture and fittings.

Staff are awful every time, completely uninterested and appear half asleep, can’t speak clearly. No “good morning guys!” welcome here!

Can’t deviate from the menu at all, you must have a fried egg with that, you must have a poached egg with that… they’ve even gone one step further and stapled a note to every menu instructing you NOT to ask for ANY changes to the menu!

Waited over an hour for breakfast when it wasn’t busy, waitress slammed bucket of cutlery down and walked off, we said “thank you” and she said nothing the whole time, half asleep, uninterested in anything!

I think a meteor could hit and these staff wouldn’t even flinch!

Ordered extra hot coffees, luke warm, delivered with a grunt.

Fried egg over cooked and tomato dry as a bone!

I have to remember this next time and never come back to this place! Such a shame as it’s beautiful, but the staff desperately need training and red bull!

£60 for 3 over cooked, dry breakfasts, 3 luke warm coffees and over an hour wait!

Avoid...

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ After a delightful walk along the bay, we stumbled upon Rise West Bay and what a gem it turned out to be! The inviting ambiance and friendly atmosphere instantly caught our attention. Once seated, I couldn't decide between the Beer Battered Fish & Chips and the Dorset Longhorn Burger. Thankfully, the attentive waitress came to my rescue and recommended the burger. And boy, was she right! The Dorset Longhorn Burger was an absolute delight - juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. I'm sure the Fish & Chips would have been equally fantastic! The staff at Rise West Bay were exceptional - friendly, welcoming, and attentive. They made our dining experience even more enjoyable. All in all, a wonderful dining experience at Rise West Bay. The combination of great food, warm hospitality, and stunning views make it a must-visit spot. I can't wait to go back for more delicious meals and to explore other items on their enticing menu. Highly recommended! 🍔🍟🌊
