why when there as a surprise meal for my 30th birthday. one of the the guest was quite upset because everyone's food came out except one persons so while one end of the table started eatting our end stopped as felt so awkward eatting without her, so our food went cold while waiting for her pizza to come out. when it did come out and was mentioned to our waiter (in a slight annoyed way I will say) the waiter apologised and said he will sort the pizza from the bill due to the long wait. the gentleman serving us (who I'm guessing is a manger of some kind) then gave terrible service. we had to ask for our glasses to be collected when Empty ect. when one of the guests again complained about the cold food as he had a few vodkas at that point and noticed it was 20% the one pizza not sorted as he originally said made my friend very upset and dissatisfied. the manger (I'm guessing) then goes to say sorry again to which my friend said wasnt good enough nothing else was offered. he then started to overly apologise which was done in such a manner it was started to annoying and winded up my friend more the whole side of my table was shaking our heads at the manager and saying look it's fine please just stop apologising and leave it. which he didnt do he then walked over to him to stand over him and apologise again very loudly. at this point my friend got up and just walked out. this manger then after he has made the situation 100% worse and everyone had paid the bill which come to over £250 then loudly infront of other customers bangs £20 in our table in and shouts at myself and my other friend I will go get you 1.95 this he said repeatedly about 4 times as we where saying no thats fine. he then quickly snatched the 20 back as well. I can understand why I'm friend was annoyed and that he can come across as loud but I feel the way the manager/waiter engaged make the situation worse and completely ruined my birthday meal, especially with his attitude. there was a lovely young lady waitress who could definitely see how disappointed I was and wished me happy birthday in a awkward and apologetic way. I would very much like to be contacted by your customer service team as working in hospitality myself I know the way I was treated and this mans reaction is completely...
Read moreMy family and I decided to eat here after weighing up the many options surrounding Wildwood, ranging from pub's to multiple fast food chains, such as Subway and McDonald's. Suffice to say, my experience of excellent service was ruined by awful food.
Before covering the multiple negative parts of my experience, the hosting and service at Wildwood is excellent, all the servers are polite, fast and strike the perfect balance between being (im)personal, where your feeling of welcoming doesn't come at any cost of the feeling of them being at all overbearing.
However, the food served by the kitchen is of such a low standard that it would be entirely disingenuous to give Wildwood a rating any higher than two stars in spite of excellent service. I luckily chose the 'Philly Steak & Cheese Sandwich', which despite not at all resembling a traditional Philly Cheesesteak (the steak being far thicker than customary and coming in a brioche bun rather than on sub bread) did not elicit any complaints. However, my family ordered 3 different risotto dishes (seafood, superfood, and smoked haddock and cheddar). All three types were totally rancid, the seafood risotto tasting so sour that it had to be returned. While the hostess kindly and quickly replaced it with a plate of spaghetti bolognese , this was only marginally better being barely edible and almost certainly not fresh.
Lastly, the decision on part of Wildwood to serve the mint in my fresh mint lemonade groundly fine into the lemonade is one so bizarre that it turns what should be a nice but standard drink into irritatingly sucking up a large amount of tiny bits of mint leaf.
While I would stay away from any of the rice and pasta dishes, the pizzas did look as if they had potential but admittedly no one on the table got one. So, going on my experience alone, I certainly would not recommend Wildwood at all beyond their excellent...
Read moreA Disappointing Experience at Wildwood
Our recent visit to Wildwood left us feeling quite disappointed. While some of the food was enjoyable, other dishes were over-seasoned, which really detracted from the overall meal. For example, my wife’s dish (unfortunately, I can’t recall exactly what it was) had far too much thyme, making it overwhelming and unappetizing.
The discomfort extended beyond the food. We were seated on a long, soft bench that had a slight forward lean, making it relatively unpleasant to sit on throughout the meal. It’s a small detail, but one that significantly impacted our experience.
The real issue, however, came at the end of the meal when we were paying. We inquired about a discount that was advertised on Wildwood’s website, only to be told that they don’t honor it during busy times or over the Christmas period. When one of our party showed the discount on the website to the staff member, they went to check with the chef, only to return and reiterate that it wouldn’t be applied. I brought up that this felt like false advertising and wasn’t right, but the staff member’s response was curt and dismissive. They asked if we wanted to remove the 10% service charge, but as it was Christmas, I declined and paid the full bill. However, the interaction felt rude and abrupt, leaving a bad impression.
Unfortunately, we will not be dining at Wildwood again. Between the mixed quality of the food, the uncomfortable seating, and the unprofessional handling of the discount situation, the experience fell far short of...
