Pickled Frog Bistro — Restaurant in England

Booked for a post cinema meal online the night before as it looked great online. When I got there the staff had no record of the booking and said the system was down...which happens. For a Saturday evening at 7.30 in the heart of Salisbury it was very quite....maybe a sign of the times. I had the goats cheese, beetroot and walnut salad.....think it was 16 quid from memory....large salad...but very shy on the goats cheese and beetroot. The building is beautiful, lovely timber beamed interior...could be made into a real gem....I don't know if it was just a slow night...but it's the sort of building that should be vibrant...having worked in restaurants years ago...it just felt that is was missing that spark...that energy and the menu was a little bit tame with no identity....I mean its the perfect setting...perfect building that should be on people's mind in a 'let's go there...they do the best so and so". There were quite a few dishes that the staff said were not available as they had run down stock due to being closed on Sundays....which I thought was a little strange because Saturday night should be the flagship night alongside Friday evening.....staff were polite...but felt a little inexperienced if I'm honest. It's a great location, great interior...just needs elevating to the next level I felt. Nice enough...but probably wouldn't go...

Horrible, my friend and I went there for an afternoon lunch and to start with, we walk in and are completely ignored by staff, which was surprising as there were a lot of them and not many customers. We sit down order a bottle of wine and our food, the food takes more than an hour to get ready, and they were appetisers so I’ve no idea why it took that long, my friend and I ordered the same thing, a guacamole, salsa, and tortillas to start and one of their trios as a main, the chips and chicken strips were great, but the ribs were so cold it felt like they had just come out of the fridge, and it smelled funny, it put us off the whole meal, none of the waitresses came to check on us and ask how’s the food and when we complained about it at the bar prior to paying, the waitress said “okay” and just stared at us, she didn’t apologise, didn’t talk to her manager, didn’t offer any solution for our discontent. My friend and I paid full price for a disgraceful lunch and couldn’t help but laugh at the horrible situation. This was my first impression and it’s an understatement saying that I’ll never...

So don’t know about the food because it didn’t turn ! We were in the place an hour after being turned away the first time and told we had to book in 1/2 an hour later despite there being 4 empty tables at that time . So turned up 1/2 an hour later to a less than enthusiastic welcome . We were seated and served our two drinks then our food order was taken by an even more unenthusiastic waitress .we were never told waiting times ! We waited and waited and waited for a soup and Caesar salad that never came so after an hour we left with an apology and only made to pay for 1 drink .
