Overall this Hotel was rather disappointing, it's located right on the main street 5 minutes from the town centre. We arrived for a company event to be advised that there were some standard rooms along with some traditional/upgraded rooms... so we grabbed an upgraded room, to only walk in the bedroom door to walk straight back down to reception and request that we were moved to the standard rooms (interestingly, throughout the evening we found out that we weren't the only people to request a different room). My partner and I thought the traditional room was horrible and the amount of flies in the room was disgusting, upon moving rooms, we walked through the next bedroom door to be greeted with a lovely size, updated modern room - however, once we actually settled in, there were several cobwebs around the room, dead spiders and no pen/pencil to fill out the survey card! Moving on, we got ready for the evening and met the rest of the company down at the bar, we had a few drinks and moved into the private dining area which was fantastic. Out came the 5 course taster menu/food which was ok but 4 out of the 5 dishes were served cold and to be honest, it was no where near the value for your money that we were expecting. Also, I'd like to point out (see images) that they propped our table up with pieces of wood to even it out, however, this actually caused more issues and several glasses fell over. The evening went on and the staff were very friendly and the customer service was great, it got to half past 10 which we were advised (last orders). This didn't go down well and we actually all thought about leaving the hotel and finding a local pub/bar down the road - instead we ordered several bottles of wine as they allowed us to remain in the private dining room. I appreciated they left us there until one-by-one we faded out and went to bed! (2am)... Breakfast the next day was good but apart from that we left the hotel, I believe my partner thought about using their spa facility, however, unfortunately this appears to be located across the car park in a separate building to...

We booked for 2 nights and a spa day.

The spa experience was amazing, and treatments were very good we were well looked after and felt completely relaxed. However, the experience of the hotel wasn’t great, we upgraded our room before we arrived as we wanted to make the most of our stay.

The room we stayed in itself was freezing, there was an oil filled radiator put on as the heating wasn’t working however the room is so big it didn’t warm through. Bathroom under floor heating also wasn’t working and as such the room was very cold. The spa bath didn’t work as the pipe was split and just chucked water everywhere. The bed was awful, and the springs were protruding through the mattress making for an uncomfortable night’s sleep. On the Saturday morning somebody did come into our room and pull the bed over, however they didn’t refill any of the coffee or sugars we had used. Bed was very noisy and just turning over woke the other person up. The website booking for the spa/hotel feels very disjointed and could be so much better. Couldn’t find a “package” of hotel and spa so had to book separately however when I rung the spa to book, they couldn’t tell me if there was any vacancies in the hotel, the lady tried to put me through but there was no answer so this boking took a lot longer than it should of as I had to wait an hour for someone to ring me back. “ I ended up just booking something on the web in the end” as I didn’t want to lose a room after paying over £300. When someone did eventually call back that’s when I upgraded.

There were a lot of positives about our stay

we enjoyed the breakfast on both mornings. The staff were all friendly with one who recommended somewhere to eat in town which was very nice. The hotel had a nice feel to it and was clean and tidy in the bar area. The waiting staff were great. The Milano restaurant was AMAZING we even spoke to the chef as we thought we needed to say thank you for...

The hotel is clean and the staff were friendly. We came to have afternoon tea via a red letter day gift. The outside space is small but was nice to be outside on a hot day, unfortunately there was a strong smell of sewage that kept coming back and the doors kept banging closed in the wind. The tea came out in nice china all miss matched, I informed the man serving us that I was allergic to salmon incase there was any in the sandwiches. He said yes there will be and went off to tell the kitchen, the food arrived not long after and looked promising. We had three cream cheese and cucumber and three ham sandwiches, we don't like cream cheese but I did try one but it wasn't for me. Then I had a ham one, that was fine so I picked up the next one and noticed it had mayonnaise or something cream coloured on the edge and side. I thought nothing of it and took a bite, but I instantly disliked it, it tasted really strongly of fish, my daughter smelt it to check and I was right it was fish. So it was now obvious that the cream stuff was some kind of salmon mixture that had been scraped off.😡 Thank goodness my allergy is mild and all I was left with was a bad stomach. There was a good range of cakes but they tasted very synthetic and not homemade, my daughter literally ate a mini doughnut and four strawberries, which she said was the best thing of the afternoon tea. We waited for the man to come back so I could inform him but he didn't reappear, we had an appointment to go to so we left. This place needs a few finer details looking at and it could be a really place to come. PLEASE BE AWARE IF YOU...
