I've been quite a few more times since my original review so it's time for an update! This still remains the best coffee shop in Northampton by a country mile. It's great to see their coffee in other eateries around the town, and the collaboration with Maule is a match made in heaven (for me!).
The cafe itself is cosy and is in the best part of the town centre - The Cultural Quarter. Seating space is limited and it's close-quarters upstairs, so bear that in mind. The roasted-on-site beans are divine and my flat whites/long blacks never disappoint. Soy and oat milks are available for 25p extra. The only thing I'd like to see are vegan pastries and cakes to go alongside the coffee.
Note that you get four stamps for buying a kilo of the house blend, so don't forget to get out your loyalty card! Lots of other single-origin beans to choose from with friendly, knowledgeable staff on hand to help.
Honestly, this place - alongside a few other independents - is carrying the town centre on its shoulders as a reason to visit. Keep...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI notice the rude response to the other reviewer who raised a reasonable objection to the no laptop policy. I was also told to put my laptop away, which I was mildly put off by at first - but after reading that Iām fully irritated! I am in town temporarily and only needed to use it for a few minutes - I am not trying to treat the place like a free office space. I didnāt even use your WiFi. In my view there is no good reason for such a policy - I was a paying customer and there were plenty of free tables so wasnāt inconveniencing anyone. If someone wants to sit quietly on their laptop and get a little bit of work done whilst they drink their coffee then whatās the issue? The coffee and cake was nice, thereās good music playing and the staff were nice enough, but the boss seems to have the wrong attitude. As a small business I wouldāve thought they would want to be as welcoming as possible - the longer I work on my laptop the more likely I will buy...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNice taste coffee, but tasteless place. Very nice and friendly service, with warm smile for everyone coming in. Fast table serviceš Cheap seats, and tables does not correspond with supposedly relaxing atmosphere over cup of coffee. It brought me to some communist style place, where owners would use hard timber seats, because guest is here only to drink coffee, not to feel at home. Another drawback is lack of food. On the day of my visit there were only one type of cookies available. No cake, no sandwiches, nothing. Midday. I understand the place is small, but it could definitely do better on supplies. It's not dirty, but at the same time not especially inviting. Cleaning spray hanging on window, means they are cleaning the place quite often, but at the same time not bothered to hide it from the view. Good thing is, they not allow laptop people here. That's a massive plus in my...
