We drove through Cheddar Gorge and fancied a bite to eat. That's when we came across Zen Thai. We parked and walked in and it was busy. We only had to wait 5 minutes for a table of 4. In hindsight, I happily would have waited for 4 hours!! The waiting staff were lovely and the owners were kind and welcoming. We chose our mains and starters off the menu and one of the owners explained to us about the flavours and how the ingredients are actually from Thailand! The food arrived in good time, not too fast and not too slow, considering it was a fully booked dinner service. You could really taste the quality of the food. When it came to dessert, I was further impressed! I went for the homemade coconut rice pudding dessert. Again, the owner explained that the bottom layer is sweet and the top layer is salty so it gives a unique flavour. The dessert was the nicest one I've had in a restaurant. Also on the list was a selection of pastry desserts and ice creams. It's refreshing to see a dessert menu with a large variety of choices for those of us who don't want ice cream! I can't fault the service or food here at all. Finally, the price was reasonable. I would definitely visit again and would recommend having a meal...

Wow. I have eaten at 30+ Thai restaurants in the UK and this is now my absolute favourite. My husband and I lived in Bangkok for a number of years, so finding “authentic” Thai food is a way to stay connected to that time in our life.

Not only is the food outstanding, but the owners are true restaurateurs. They glide around that place, giving everyone little bits of personal attention, which makes the whole experience perfect. It is no wonder they ask you to book weeks in advance.

Star highlights for me after our first visit: Moo grawbp - crispy pork with the most delicious sweet/sour dip. Pad see eew - they actually use fresh wide rice noodles (no pad Thai rice sticks or mama noodles in sight). They also managed when it was busy, to cook a “Thai egg” (Kai daow) to go on top.

On a weekend they even do Kanom Thuay - which are delicious little bowls of coconutty pandaan goodness. I feel so lucky to live within driving distance of ZenThai. Cannot wait to go back. Side note - the loos are pristine which always makes...

What a wonderful experience tonight at ZenThai! We came at 4:55, right at opening. Even though they were fully booked, they let us use the manager’s table for a quick dinner with our five year old son as long as we finished before their next 6pm reservation. We ordered golden tofu (crispy!), pad see eiu noodle (perfect!), orange chicken (fantastic large portion), aromatic jasmine rice, and tasty soup with tofu. Food was absolutely delicious, served quickly, beautiful presentation…The host and wait staff could not have been more accommodating for our young child. 10/10 for service, presentation, authenticity, ambiance, friendliness, I could go on. Exceptional coconut custard dessert. We got extremely lucky, it seems necessary to book well in advance especially Friday and Saturday. Thank you to the wonderful staff for making our...

The best Thai restaurant I've ever been in united Kingdom. Having a quiet meal with authentic food is a 5 star to me. The inside decoration is beautiful. You can feel the Thai vibes with their soft music background. The Asian Staff greeted and we were cheerfully seated for table for 2. Been presented with their contemporary leather menu/drink cover list. Which is easy to order. We ordered the spicy garlic sauce in vegetable with pork and pad Thai with pork for our main, starter is the sharing for 2 which has a 4 choices of dumplings, spicy chicken wings, spring rolls and sesame chicken toast and the sauce compliments it. The pad Thai I really enjoyed it.pork was tender and tasty. The food and drinks are all reasonable price. Absolutely recommendable and top rated Thai restaurant. Will definitely comeback. Thank you.

I had the Moo Krob starter and it was REALLY good. The mains followed up on the quality. If you like Thai food you will not be disappointed eating here! The owner (Spencer), whos wife runs the kitchen, is a great host, and his team are friendly, capable and quick. The restaurant was packed, but service was still timely. Note: there is one warning I have, do not expect to rock up and get in without booking on Friday or Saturday. This is a popular restaurant (with good reason), so in season you may need to book 6 weeks in advance, we went off season and still needed to book 4 weeks in advance. Don't let that put you off, just plan ahead and book in advance, it's worth it. Imho.

Wow! The best Thai restaurant around.. food was just fabulous, the service was first class and the atmosphere was lovely. We chose to have our starters at the same time as our main which meant table space was limited but we managed. A great choice of starters, mains, deserts and drinks. It does get busy here so best to book ahead. We parked opposite which is a pay and display car park 24/7 and cost £4 for 3 hours. We can't fault anything it was delicious. We will definitely be recommending and will for sure be going again.
