GAIL's Bakery Epping — Restaurant in Epping Forest

So.. Monday morning I pull up in front of Gail’s in Epping & went in for a blueberry muffin & a coffee. I couldn’t find my phone so I drove home to get it. It was nowhere to be seen so I grabbed £10 and drove back. To my dismay the lady informed me they don’t accept cash, I think she must have seen my face fall & busied herself making the coffee & putting the muffin in a bag. She handed them to me with a big smile saying, It’s the beginning of the week, let’s not have you get off to a bad start! “ Honestly I was blown away! I’ve been in there many times but don’t know the staff by name ( I do now Sara ) They always welcome my dog, and everybody else’s, it’s such a pleasant place to be.. Disappointing. Looks promising, well presented but three times I’ve been there and each time there has been extremely limited vegan offerings on the front counter. Today there was only one very small vegan item among dozens of pastry options. Last time there were none. The local staff politely explained its they don’t decide what’s on offer. I opted for a plant based soup, it was delicious but was served with a stale sour dough bread slice and . . . butter! This was after a longish conversion about the lack of vegan options. I gave the butter to my companion as their sultana scone came without anything. The butter was rock hard. Both coffee’s were very nice. In this time when many people are rightly concerned either about climate change and biodiversity loss or animal welfare can we please have plenty of vegan options !? Absolutely phenomenal experience at Gail's Epping every visit! From the moment you walk in, you are greeted with warm smiles and an inviting atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home!

The service here is truly top-notch. Chloe and Nathaniel , in particular, go above and beyond to ensure my visit is exceptional every time. Chloe's friendly demeanour and attention to detail made ordering a breeze, while Nathaniel's efficiency and expert coffee-making skills ensured that my coffee order is perfect.

The ambiance of the shop is cozy and stylish, providing a perfect backdrop for enjoying a delicious cup of coffee. The pastries are fresh and delightful, perfectly complementing their expertly brewed coffee.
