Imperial Oriental Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Epsom and Ewell

Ordered collection twice so far after having recently moved to the area. It's a bit hit and miss, hence the 3 star.

Thought it was really good the first time and went back anticipating a similar experience. Marked difference this time though. We ordered a variety of dishes. The one thing we thought really good were the soups (Hot and Sour, Crabmeat and sweetcorn, Won Ton). The spare ribs with salt and chilli weren't bad either.

Everything else - the fried rice, mixed veg noodles, Thai spicy prawns, chilli garlic beef (Chef recommendation - 2 chillis marked on the menu) were all sickly sweet. Also, there are way too many onions in the main dishes - probably contributes to the sweetness.

The staff are polite. We would love for the food to go back to what we experienced the first time around and happy to update this rating after...

New resident to the area had family visiting decided to order from here. It was by far the worse Chinese we've ever tasted!! Shredded chicken tasted like it has sugar poured over it ,sweet and sour sauce tasted like vinegar,the special fried rice had a funny after taste,the chicken curry that was mostly mushrooms and onion look like sick on a plate my son took one look at it a threw it in the bin. The chips looked they had been reheated from left over food. We spent £70 on this awful food none of us ate half of what was on our plate. A few weeks ago, we decided to try this restaurant as an alternative to our regular Chinese spot, and it exceeded our expectations. I opted for the kung po chicken, which was incredibly flavoursome and delicious. The service was prompt, attentive, and respectful, adding to our overall positive experience.
