The Station — Restaurant in Epsom and Ewell

My family and I went for Sunday lunch. The Green King app would not allow us to pay so there was a kerfuffle at the till, which to be fair, was not the fault of the pub and one of the staff did all he could to help. When our drinks came, one had been forgotten. The starters were tasty but the dirty crockery was just left on the table. After our mains had been brought out the server asked did we need anything else so we asked that the dirty starter plates be taken away. My wife had the roast beef and although the food was hot and the vegetables delicious, the beef was like shoe leather. It must have been the scrag end, perhaps all that left as we arrived about 2.30. Finally, my son's partner felt a drop of water and looked up to see a large damp patch on the ceiling above her. We called this to the waiter's attention all he did was mumble something about yeah, that needed seeing to. All in all, this was not the worst pub I have been to but it certainly was not one...

Was unable to order the meal I wanted because "the screen" wasn't letting that person order it. I asked if I could just pay for the meal upgrade anyway and they tell the kitchen staff but, apparently, this wasn't an option. The kids wanted a Fruit Shoot drink. Staff said they didn't have this. I pointed out that it was on the menu. Staff said they had run out. Ok, the kids will drink something else then, I guess. We asked for fries, but got chips. We asked for a rare steak and it came out well done. And far too chewy. Also, the kids' ice creams had to be asked for five times before it came out. Even then, they only had enough for one vanilla, so the other one had to settle for strawberry. No chocolate sauce came on the ice cream, as advertised on the menu. On the plus side, the manager was very helpful and gave me the key to the disabled toilets, despite the fact that the bar staff said they didn't have a key to...

Pleasantly surprised about everything, 15 years since I was in this pub and it wasn't a nice pub years ago, food was delicious and fresh, reasonable price, staff were very helpful and friendly especially a blonde lady ( I didn't get her name) , drinks were good and not expensive, kids were welcomed as were dogs, had a lovely lunch with my 2 daughters, can't wait to come again , ten stars, been again many times and it's been really good each time So we have been coming back every week for food and drink, but took the girls today and were looked after by Janna who went out of her way to make sure we were welcomed and looked after, such a gorgeous friendly helpful lady, polite and smiley, made our lunch a lot more enjoyable, can't wait...
