Overall as a tapas experience I would rate Limas quite well, I would say compared to local alternatives it is better than Esquina in its current state and possibly on a par with the Frustrated Chef.
The food quality, overall, was really good and you could tell it was all homemade. Started with some delicious freshly baked focaccia with aioli and gordal olives. All of us highly rated them. Probably the nicest olives we've ever had. Then an assortment of plates for mains.
The main thing that knocked it from a 5 to a 4 was the seasoning of the dishes. The heritage carrots were really tasty but just a touch of extra salt off being perfection. The broccoli with satay sauce was delicious and probably my favourite dish but borderline too salty. The halloumi was too salty, needed something fresh to balance out the halloumi served with it rather than spicy yoghurt. The bravas needed a bit more salt and I would say they were a little overdone.
The arancini was delicious.
The dishes did run quite spicy, the meatballs and chicken blew my boyfriend's socks off. The other party members' favourite dish was the monkfish as they hadn't tried monkfish before. They described it as quite a meaty in texture fish which they found interesting. It was served with delicious accompaniments.
The variety of interesting flavours on the different dishes at Limas is a definite selling point. It's not just Spanish tapas.
Dessert was a bit of a disappointment, the churros were small and stodgy, they tasted mainly of the oil they were cooked in to me. They were also pretty phallic in shape. I would probably give dessert a miss if returning.
Drinks were good but 2 for £17 is pretty pricey...

What a gorgeous feast!! Every dish was so nice... The hubby hasn't stopped talking about the Slow Cooked Ribs! 🤤 They were goooooodddd! 👌 It's hard to pick a favourite as we really enjoyed each dish 😍 The menu has a great selection of different dishes, and also has plenty of Gluten Free options and a good Vegan selection too! As well as the food being so good, the cocktails were lush too!! 🍹🍸 For early on a Friday evening it was busy and had a great atmosphere... Limas Tapas is definitely a new fave of ours and we already can't wait to return!
Thanks so much to Kenny for and to all the other lovely staff who looked after us so well during our evening, you'll definitely be seeing us...
Read moreLast order from the kitchen, myself and my mum arrived late from the Clifford Health Spa hopeful to share some tasty tapas before our 1hr + journey home. We were greated nicely, place looked ambient and clean. We were told to order quickly and so we picked belly pork, steak, triple cooked potatos and foccacia bread. The steak and bread were correct! Pricey for the size but nice, would recommend and have again. The pork belly though. Strange sweet flavour, on repeatedly tasting it we think it had cinnamon in. Horrendous but we were starving and wanted to be quick, it was past 9pm. The potatoes were the worst potatas bravas ever, almost cremated with blackened sides. Looked like a can of chopped tomatoes with a dash of the white sauce were chucked over it. Tasted strange, didn't think potatas bravas could be bad, awful. I had to write a review. For those four small dishes we paid £33 and both wouldn't return unless for the steak in a larger portion as a main but with what other side is the question. Strange flavours and we have eaten tapas many times in England as well as Spain and...
