Fabulous Chippy! Visited this Cods Scallops for the 1st time as a birthday treat with my family. Food was absolutely superb, fresh cooked and plentiful! Staff were excellent too, warm welcoming, very helpful and prompt with serving us. The restaurant was lovely but... a couple of issues in this area let the visit down slightly. The tables were constantly slipping and moving on the floor which was annoying as we had 3 pushed together to accommodate our party of 6. However the worst issue was the seats... very flimsy and very uncomfortable plus they had the same issue as the tables with slipping n sliding on the floor... I'm sure the slipping around is an easy fix but I honestly feel the chairs need replacing completely. If these issues were addressed I would definitely review 5*! All in all the issues with the restaurant only slightly take away anything from the visit, we will 100% be visiting The Cods Scallops again and soon too! I would also happily recommend the Cods Scallops to everyone for a...
Read moreFirst time ever visiting but have walked passed many times. Ordered online as I figured Saturday would be busy. I have fish and chips once every about 10 years so figured I would go for the best in the UK. I walked in, no faff with order numbers etc, they were expecting me and immediately made up my order. I was really pleased my order wasn't sat sweating under a hot light it was good that it was fresh out of the fryer. The cod was utterly delightful and so light, I genuinely struggled to eat it as it just fell apart on my fork. I mostly used the mushy peas to stick the fish to my fork so they ran out fast. Chips were good, not much flavour really, I am so used to leaving the skins on when I cook chips at home that peeled chips just taste a bit naff. Personal preference aside fair chips. Not going to make a habit of eating fish and chips anytime soon but would definitely recommend The Cod's Scallops if you're looking...
Read moreAbsolutely amazing... we have now tried all 3 shops and this one did not fail us. The freshness of the fish and the thin light crispy batter omg so yum! I tried the cod then plaice and you can clearly taste the different and the freshness in both of them. Although we came here for the monk fish but they didn’t have it today along with few others. Oysters were so so small, whelks not the big one we expected and was a little sandy, the tarter sauce tasted a bit off so we stop eating that.
Overall it was really good especially we tried the one in Leicester which cost the same but it was the worse chippy ever... that’s why we cherish this one a lot more now after that poor one lol
Total bill came to £36 for a lunch which was not bad. The price has certainly gone up and the portion slightly reduced but I don’t mind paying for the amazing taste at all! Still the...
