Green Gables Inn — Restaurant in Exeter

I have to admit, this review is based on a vicarious experience talking with someone who know the place very well. This is a real old fashioned boozer, not a poncey plastic gastro pub, you go here to have a drink. Period! Sadly, a type of place dying out from British culture, a real working man's place of refreshment after the days toil. Ask for the menu.....which flavour of crisps do you want! Brilliant. However, the savvy landlord will allow you to order a takeaway from the places opposite and provide cutlery and plates for you to eat it there and carry on drinking. Genius The landlord also serves excellent beer being very diligent about cleaning the pipework and pumps regularly.

It's a 'must visit' for all foreign tourists to get a real flavour of a British pub and meet local people who are serious about community and drinking...
