Luckily we went on the Tuesday, which apparently happened to be Indian Thali specials day. Hands down authentic taste and flavour, everything was freshly prepared and one could tell by the looks and taste of it. A must try would be momos as well. They had lots of options in the drink selection. They even went out of the way to prepare off-menu item for the day, Lamb shank. I was a bit apprehensive as I have tried lamb at many places but never found it right amount of tender. By the end of it, lamb shank was the favourite dish on the table for me. All in all an amazing experience and definitely doing it again.

This place had been recommended to my partner, and we received a leaflet through our letter box. Finally, it was time to try it out. We went for the option of picking it up, as you can then get a discount. The stuff was very helpful and polite, and they were ok with me buying drinks to take home with us. The food was nice and the prices were reasonable . You should go for it if you want to have plenty of choice and decent food.

if i could rate this a zero i would. thought the pictures online looked nice so gave it a go. the misala was gloopy and had absolutely NO flavour whatsoever. the chicken was obviously microwaved and it tasted like eating rice with mayonnaise. the peshwari naan was disgusting the bread tasted horrible and the rice was watery ! i will definitely not be coming back here! absolutely vile.

Absolutely great night raising money for the Choices charity. Wonderful food and generous donations from all has hopefully helped this superb organisation to help those it can. Fun time had by about 80 supporters and no-one went home hungry. Thanks to all at The Gurkha Kitchen for their support. I can't wait to go back to enjoy all the new dishes I've discovered. Five stars all around!!!!

Update (Feb 2022): emerging from the COVID lockdowns, The Gurkha has seen a change in management that has not detrimentally affected the quality of dining offered, which is still very high. New front of house team offer the same, warm welcome and we hope they thrive going forward, as it's one of our favourite local eateries.

Further update (Oct 2023): Just as good as it has always been. Always popular with families, couples, students and groups from the nearby hospital. Great individual and friendly service, tailoring of dishes for particular preferences is never too much trouble. Wonderful flavours whether mild, medium or hot strength chosen. We just cannot stop returning. Our most frequented dining venue by...

My son took me here as I don't live in the city. He's vegitarian, I'm not so eating out together can be sometimes tricky - not here! If this isn't the best food of it's type that I have ever tasted then it is certainly up there - it isn't just "Indian" as the food is Neplaise witha nod to the cuisine of it's bigger neighbour. Whilst I don't doubt they have dishes that will melt your toungue should you wish my taste is less aggressive - think the subtle flavours of the sub continent and you will be awe struck. Their starter dumplings are to die for - with or without meat - and there speaks a man who often struggles with vegitarian food; not here. The mains were of similar quality and, having tasted the dishes with and without meat, they were both sublime The service matched the food I plan to return to Exeter on the merest excuse just to try something else...

I tried this restaurant for the first time last night. Ordered lamb and veg momos through deliveroo and let me tell you all IF YOU KNOW WHAT MOMOS IS THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST YOU CAN GET HERE. And for the unfortunate ones who haven’t tried momos yet, your luck is about to change so pls ORDER THEM. I personally liked the veg ones better but both hit the spot just right! Thank you Gurkha kitchen for helping me take a nice walk down the momos memory lane :) bless you xx P.S- as much as i love them and the taste is 5 stars almost 7 quid for just 4 made my heart hurt a tad bit. I’d appreciate if they were atleast 6 :( sorry but im a bit greedy when it comes to momos; will probably still order...
