Vue Cinema Exeter — Local services in Exeter

Myself and my partner had booked to watch an honest thief saturday evening, on walking In we were greeted by a nice young man who checked we had our masks on and informed us which screen we would be watching the film in. Previously to covid we would have had our tickets checked and told where we would be sitting but there was noone available, I'm not moaning but in the dark it took a little while to find our seats, I think there was only about 7 other people in. We sat in the very luxurious leather seat..very comfy. We sat through several trailers and then thought we were being treated to a short film as they did in the old days, well the film went on a bit, so we realised we were actually not in the right room, it wasnt worth us now moving as we would have missed the beginning of the film we were supposed to be watching, five minutes from the end of the film a man came over and asked to see our tickets, I explained that I knew we were in the wrong room, he said would we like to go into the right room? I said it wasnt worth it as the film only had five minutes to go, he then said he didnt think it was legal and would have to check with management?? Obviously film had finished and we were out of there before anything happened. But I can tell you the film pixie is...

This review is not about Exeter, it is about their customer service line. I couldn't use my gift card to buy tickets online, so I called them. Firstly, before they even answer your question they take down personal details, name and email address, and then answer the question with no concern.

They do not allow you to use gift cards when buying tickets online. We live 40mins from our Vue, by the time we arrive to buy tickets, there will be no seats left. At least not anything decent. This was of no consequence to the staff member on the phone. Very objective, non-feeling, non-caring.

I asked why did you take all my personal details if you could have just answered. This person just kept repeating that is was for their records. I said, do I have the rights to ask you to remove my details. He just said "Yes". that was it. Not, "yes of course, i'll remove them for you now". He could have suggested this removal when I expressed disapproval of providing personal information.

It is not acceptable, as a big cinema company, to be rude to your customers, to show no care in trying to help or for my concerns...

Just been to the Vue Exeter cinema for the first time in 9 months. Could deal with masks and social distancing and even steamy spectacles and was looking forward to seeing "Tenet". I lasted 10 minutes before I had to leave. I've never had to walk out of a cinema before, ever. It was just too loud. I've been to loud gigs; Motorhead, Iron Maiden etc. But today I was stuck in the middle of the theatre unable to move away from the sound source and experiencing actual ear pain. It was so loud even the dialogue scenes were inaudible and distorted. My ribcage was reverberating during the action scene. It was embarrassing having to leave the cinema, the staff were really polite and apologetic saying it is the way the sound has to be set up. There's loads of comments on t'internet about this, but am I the first person to have to leave because of actual pain? I already have partial hearing loss and I'm a bit concerned this may have made it worse. There should have been a warning on their website that people with sensitive hearing should take ear...
