In all fairness, it should not be me writing this review, I have not actually eaten at Antonios and certainly do not plan to. I have however visited the establishment, unfortunately I could only view it from the back of an ambulance. A strange start to a story, so let me fill you in. My girlfriend had decided to visit the restaurant with some friends, the evening started well until the first course arrived at the table. The dish was not placed on the table but, for some reason, handed to my girlfriend. The waitress had warned my girlfriend that the plate was warm. In reality the plate was so hot it scalded her hands and induced shock. Hence the earlier mention of the ambulance. Although I cannot comment on the food (as it obviously ended up on the floor) I feel I can rate the service. Utter incompetence comes to mind. Maybe this can only be aimed at the waitress in question who seemed to lack the capacity to employ any form of common sense or perhaps we can go higher up and appeal directly to the management, something along the lines of altering the interview process to weed out the morons? This may sound bad enough, but it gets worse. There was no first aid kit on the premises. There was no accident book on the premises. And most disgustingly of all, there was no one who appeared to care on the premises. All of this added up to people having to remove the ice from their own drinks to provide some comfort to my girlfriend hands. So the result of the evening? Burnt hands and a half hearted apology along the lines of 'I'm really sorry, I did say it was hot though' no where near enough for a business that didn't even bother to make a generic free meal gesture and to top that off, my girlfriend now faces the next week off of work as a vet nurse, potentially depriving her of a weeks worth of pay but more importantly, stopping her from doing the job she loves. A copy of this will be submitted to the website and just about everywhere else I can post it, to make the point that I'm not just a disgruntled customer who's food arrived late but someone who, themselves runs a business and who values...
Read moreOn the 5th of January 2013, I went to Antonio’s and to say it was eventful is an understatement. My husband and I were enjoying a meal which was ok, overpriced for what you get but it was ok. On the table opposite us a young lady had her hands burnt badly by a plate she was given, as a first aider and st johns ambulance trained I offered my help to the young lady. It turned out the group were all vets or nurses and they thanked me for my help. What distressed me the most, this girl was in obvious pain however they continued to ask for ice or cool water however no one came with ice and no one came to see how the young lady was. She ended up collapsing and was unconscious for a few minutes when an ambulance was called, still none of the staff came to see how she was, and a first aid kit was asked for which never came. I was shocked at how the staff weren’t bothered about this girl who was in distress and how they didn’t even supply ice till people started getting angry or supplying a first aid kit, which you would think would have burn cream in it seeing as people work with hot food and surfaces. When the lady collapsed it was the people on her table pulling out the table so the ambulance people could access her which staff seemed irritated with. The ambulance finally came and all the staff hid and my husband had to open the door for the lady to be carried out to the ambulance, they didn’t even go out to the ambulance to check on the lady. It concerns me that the people at Antonio’s are not bothered about the customers and obviously have no health and safety regulations in place. I will be passing this on to the correct people as I do not think this is acceptable. I am not sure what happened with the lady but I hope she’s fine and I will not be returning to the restaurant as I do not feel they care about their customers but more...
Read moreAfter ordering the main dish we weren't asked how the food was, because the owner knew very well how the last dish after many days tastes like.
When you pay around £20 for a main course in 2019 you don't expect a slice of cabbage stem, few carrots and broccoli and call them seasonal veg when it is summer!
The owner can grill and chat but that's about it.
Pureed tomato? Meatballs that come frozen and ready and cost next to nothing but sold at a huge profit? So few new potatoes. I could have brought some from home!!
High prices do not always provide a fine meal. Neither do small portions assume to be fine too.
Customers are polite but not stupid.
The tomato sauce with the 3 prawns, 5 mussels, rice and a shred of fish wasn't nice at all, as if it is close to getting off. It wasn't cooked on the day!!!! It was on the board outside the door for days so it was an old dish....
Sadly sellers assume the customers have no idea. As if we don't shop or cook or even serve customers ourselves.
Even paid I'm not going...
