Gurkha Spice — Restaurant in Fenland District

Regrettably our second visit to the restaurant was extremely underwhelming, food wasn't great at all, we left majority of our dishes uneaten, nothing tasted like it did on our initial visit about 4 months prior to that. Tandoori meats were dry and extremely chewy with an awful texture. We left very disappointed and decided to never go back. Sure first time around it was a good overall experience, unfortunately consistency just isn't there and that is a huge part of repeating business, making sure that everything is always prepared to the restaurant's best ability. This was just not the case and the food was pretty bad second time around. The restaurant seems to be always very busy so I'm guessing maybe we were just unlucky, however with quite high prices and eating out being a luxury l feel like consistency in food quality should be key and also a reason why we decided to avoid it from now on. Why can't people be totally honest. It was absolutely fab when it was the old restaurant. I don't get these new dishes and when I asked for a stuffed chapati it was roar doe. Sorry about my spelling. The food comes out too too fast. Iv been to Indian restraints that Cook in front of you as do Chinese. And when you have to wait. It means your food is getting cooked fresh. And as for the other people that had to pay for poppadoms and pickles 🥒. I was also shocked that I had to pay. As being from London which is expensive. Those come free while you wait to order. I feel some of these comments are not from familiar Indian curry eaters. But if you all enjoyed your meal then that's great. I sorry to say. But I wish my old restaurant was back. Miss them very much. If you want a Jhalfrezi then you shod get one that's cooked with chilli's and the correct spices. I was so so sad I never got near to that.. Sorry people but my star...

A quick.look at the photos & menu online gave me more hope of a better experience than up the road... & I was right to think so !

I thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful of the food here.. a real treat. The meat starter was lightly chargrilled & the fish main was tender & gently flavoursome.. delicious !

I will be back for a lot more.

Not to criticise the restaurant but 2 stars atmosphere is due to selfish, ignorant, aresehole diners (2 tables !) thinking it's absolutely normal to have a screen in front of their child playing kiddies shows at normal volume, competing with the traditional music of the restaurant..ffs !

Some people have more lip filler than etiquette or brains. The owner is far too polite & careful not offend to tell these morons to keep it down.

Please don't let this rant put you off, this place is an oasis in a desert of bland, mediocre, crap.

Also, the price... I ate a lot..too much & it...
