This was my 2nd visit to Olde Griffin, this time for New Years Eve. Parking is available at the back of the pub, this is advertised as pay and display but the pub will provide a permit for you to display in your car. The rooms are clean, spacious with tea and coffee facilities. The TV has free view, isn't a smart TV but this didn't bother us. Bathroom is has a bath & waterfall shower with body wash provided. Ample soft and fluffy towels were available. The bed was lovely and soft with great pillows. The bar staff are great and very knowledgeable (especially when it comes to gins!). We had dinner which was ok, not the best sausage and mash but was still tasty. The DJ for the evening was great and played a wide selection of music. The atmosphere for new year was fantastic. We had breakfast in the morning and whilst the selection was great it was perfect for what we wanted after a boozy night before; The location in March is great for browsing the high street and going for a walk around. All in all, another great stay and can't wait to go back!

Well, I am not going to discuss March; please do your own research, really do. However, this pub, which also operates as a hotel, is more than suitable for a stopover. I had a peaceful night. The rooms are a decent size, warm, and has a good bed and a pleasant shower. TV, coffee and tea, and bedside lights and a seating are, so pretty cosy, really. It is located in the town centre, so you may hear traffic, but it did not significantly affect my sleep, especially since they provide earplugs. Check-in was straightforward and very professional; the staff member thoroughly explained everything, which was fantastic. In fact, the staff are a friendly bunch, which was nice  The car park is small, so it’s advisable to arrive early and is free, but there is a big carpark opposite,  but your have to pay. I had dinner during my stay, which was enjoyable, and the beer selection was fine and all at a good price. I found the locals to be a bit grumpy, but that could just be me.

Stayed here for New years eve/day. This is our third visit and stay at the Ye Olde Griffin, and it's safe to say we will be back again. It was nice to see the staff that we saw 4 years ago , still working there. Rooms are well equipped with very comfy beds, tea and coffee facilities, and a None Smart TV. Showers are perfect but also with the option for a hot bath if you wish. The room was extremely clean with zero faults. Food was beyond perfect, I had the chip chop platter, which I've never seen on any menu before. However, it was delicious but definitely defeated me as I struggled to finish it. Cost wise , the room for the night (New Year Eve) was £96 with 2 additional breakfasts. Evening meals for 2 cost us less than £25. Overall, the Griffin is a fantastic hotel, but also a great fun pub where you can enjoy the bar with its entertainment and then wobble upstairs to the rooms (which we did).

Absolutley lovely, but...

Stayed here for a Saturday overnight stay May 2023. Was greeted by Sandy who was absolutely lovely and helpful - she advised that on Saturday nights they have a disco...more about that below.

Ye Olde Griffin is a lovely, oldy-worldy pub on the main road through March with free parking (it's a pay and display car park; on arrival I paid for 3 hours parking but on entering the pub I was given a free parking voucher & they kindly took the £1 I'd unnecessripy paid for parking off of a cup of coffee).

Sandy is absolutely lovely, as were all of the staff; all happy and very helpful. The food was OK, pub grub as you'd expect and a varied menu including adequate options for vegetarians.

Our room was lovely, clean, bed was comfortable and we had everything we needed including a kettle, tea, coffee....and...earplugs...

Sandy had advised about the disco held there on Saturday nights, and that there were earplugs in the room if it disturbed us...and boy did it disturb us, even with the earplugs in. It disturbed us until it finished at 2am. Worst...night's...sleep...ever.

It seems that on Saturday nights Ye Olde Griffin becomes the go-to place for those wanting a late night clubbing experience. Three bouncers on the door suggest that it can get busy..?

The hotel fire alarm sounded at 12.15 a.m. but stopped a few minutes later so guessing one of the revellers set it off and the staff acted quickly.

Would I recommend Ye Olde Griffin? Absolutely :) It's lovely, as are Sandy and her team.

Would I recommend it for a Saturday night stay to people who want a good night's sleep?...

Visited this lovely traditonal pub on monday last weeks as was in the area for work, so made use of the hotel facilities, checking was quick and easy with some very usefull information, for the life of me i can't remember who checked me in but she was extreamly helpful,

The room was fresh, clean and very cosy, the bed was so comfy i slept like a newborn, could not fault the room what so ever,

The service from the bar staff was quick, professional, with a smile, i ordered my food with ease and sat in one of the booths just by the window to look onto the market, The food was well im no food critic but it was mouth watering delicious.

While i was eating i sore a poster promoting a monday night quiz, so i though why not while im here spoke to the bar staff who was happy to help me and booked me a slot, this was such a great night very fun and with lots of different challenging questions but some easy ones. They also informed me that there is a bingo night on tuesday, i joined in on this aswell, it was brilliant not like your usual bingo more fun and exciting for everyone and so relaxed.

I think these was hosted by Kila & Chris, both a credit to the pub to make these inviting and fun for everyone.

All the staff the i dealt with was a credit, the other two that stood out to me was eva and dasiy credit to the company and all defiantly deserve some recognition.

Thank you Ye Olde Griffin, for a very excellent stay, will defianitly be...

I couldn't get a reservation at my favourite carvery so I went to the Griffin. It now has second place status on my list, cauliflower cheese was a bit runny and could of been a bit more cheesy, and there was very little to choose from veg wise unless you like peas and carrots on your Sunday roast. I personally think they are a week day veg... Sunday's dinners are special... I know some think that's odd but we all have our quirks.. ;) any way the roast potatoes, new potatoes and parsnips were nice and the gravy was good to.The big surprise for me was the stuffing balls. I was offered two I said I wanted one, I don't mind them but I'm not a big fan. They were the best stuffing balls I have ever tasted, I went back up to claim my second one! So.. everything was cooked well, and tasted Good, the meat was spot on and although I don't think the yorkies were home made they were good too. The staff were friendly, the chap serving was chatty, generous with his carving and funny. I am not an easy person to please with a Sunday lunch so well done to the Griffin. Maybe consider broccoli stems, runner beans, cabbage or other locally sourced veg, we are surrounded by farms in the fens, or maybe even just roasting the carrots to make them less week day.. I will be back the next time I can't get booked in at my first choice....
