Usually, I am not the kind of person to submerge myself into unnecessary discussions. However, the management of the Bees Knees Cafe seems to miss the point of my review. Furthermore, please allow me to get the facts straight here as your staff did not inform me fully about a government discount. Up until today, I have had no idea that such a discount even existed. On the other hand, I was not aware that the cake I bought was selling for £3.00 each; however, I see you stating that I seemed quite happy about it. Whatever the case may be, and never mind how I felt about it, you should learn that there are people in this world who are entirely at ease most of the time and do not get easily offended, regardless of the given situation.
Therefore, and for the sake of clarification, kindly note that my review merely served as a constructive comment. I am a business owner myself, and I would never dare to approach my customers with uncertainty, or worse, slag them off and call them liars. As life has it nowadays, people have the freedom to leave reviews about their experiences, and as you stated yourself, you cannot make it right for everyone. I have noted that some reviewers did not like your coffee, and so left you with a 1-star review. Again, you replied to these reviews while trying to argue that everybody else did like your coffee? Why? Do you honestly believe that customers will reflect on their decisions and give your business a better rating? As in my case, I disposed of the cake after taking two bites as the taste of burned nuts was too overwhelming for me.
Let me conclude that I am certainly not sorry for leaving you with just one star because I honestly believe that you and your staff should have handled my situation differently. However, it would help if you learned to take criticism while using it to your advantage instead of waging war against some ‘unruly’ customers.
I am always looking out for smart cafe's and gave this place a try coming from my bank. Although it looks quite welcoming while the staff appeares friendly, my initial impression changed when it was time to pay.
Regrettably, things took a turn when I decided to take the reminds of a pecan cake with me (3 pieces) which, I am sure, they would have thrown away anyway. Nevertheless, and to my dismay, a discussion between staff ensued about how much I would have to pay. With the suggestions ranging from over £5.00 to over £10.00, I was charged the latter and I have to admit that the cake was not anywhere good.
So, why three stars? The place is well visited and perfectly situated on Enniskillen's main street. People seem to like it (judging other reviews), and I have to admit that I did enjoy my cappuccino. However, the incident on the check-out was not professional and should have been avoided at all cost as that should not be done in front of a customer. Last but not least, I honestly love pecan, but all I was tasting was burnt nuts....
Read moreA lovely café that's well worth a visit, if you can get a seat! We visited on a Saturday morning, arriving minutes after opening time, and most tables were already occupied. While it opens at 8.30am, the kitchen doesn't open until 9am, a strange setup that means your hot drink is cold or consumed by the time you're even ordering food. The menu has plenty of options without being overwhelming. Some in our group had sausage and bacon butties, which were good. Another ordered the BRAT bagel, but found that there was far too much mayonnaise, making it unpleasant to eat. I had the pancake "stack" with bacon which was disappointing; two pancakes does not a stack make. The hot chocolate was apparently gorgeous. There's a pleasant buzz around the café, staff are welcoming and attentive, and it's fairly comfortable, if a little cosy. There is a disabled bathroom with baby changing facilities. I'd recommend The Bees Knees, but perhaps not the bagel or...
Read moreThere are no words… called in yesterday for lunch based on a recommendation from a friend and had the soup. Sweet potato and coconut - omg - delish! The portion was perfect and the flavour was everything! I could tell just from the display that the cakes were to die for! I had the most perfectly made skinny cappuccino which came in a huge mug that inspired curling up on a sofa with a good book it was just that good! I decided then that I would have to come back today for lunch to try one of the spectacular sandwiches that I spotted other customers having. I had the pork rib. It did not disappoint. The flavours were so perfectly balanced. Portion wise it looked massive but was actually just the right amount. I cannot recommend this place enough. Find an excuse to come to Enniskillen and don’t worry if there’s a queue at the door - it moves fairly quickly and will the worth the wait - I promise. I can’t wait...
